What is european delivery!?!?
Okay so I am settling on a purchase for 2015 335i M sport for $53.3k out the door (MSRP was 56.2k).
This is my first time purchasing a car ever so I am kind of clueless... I mean looking at the word "european delivery" I can assume it is coming from Europe. But what is the difference (is it cheaper? better? Take longer? delivered to local dealer if I do get it?)?? I am not sure but I am assuming my car will get produced in South carolina??? Someone correct me and educate me! Edit: Okay I googled and got the basic info from BMW. So I have to travel to europe and do it. But in terms of financially, how much better off is it? I think my deal is good enough don't you guys think? |

I don't know the exact amount, but you'll save 2 to $3K, which you will end up spending on ticket to Europe, food, lodging, entertainment, etc. It's more about the experience, rather than saving money.

You save about 7% since you're technically buying it directly from BMW. The price is NOT negotiable but 7% off puts you at invoice anyway. You may have to pay your dealer $500 or so and they'll set everything up for you. If you're leasing, they'll waive your second month's payment since during the second month of ownership, your car will likely be in transit and you won't be able to drive it. Since you're in VA, factor in about 6 weeks total transit time from Germany (or wherever you drop it off at in Europe) to Baltimore (nearest port of exit from Virginia) and then from there to your local dealer. |

That was awesome - brought back all the excitement I had 3 years ago on my ED! Easily the best vacation I've ever had.
Nice work. -Michael

OP here is a great deal of info on ED http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...liveryFAQ.aspx
You can also goto the link in my signature and contact David (ED King) and the team for any additional questions. when doing ED whoever you decide to goto make sure they know what they are doing. It def a process and has to be done correct all the way down to last little detail. Once you get over there it would be a huge hassle if they car was not ordered correctly. ED is an awesome experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone to try at least once!

Sometimes I regret not doing ED, but I don't think I could've waited.
But then I really enjoy the American way of buying/selling cars: test drive a particular car on the dealers lot, decide you want it, sign a cheque and drive away with it the same evening! Crazy! Nothing beats the adrenaline rush of deciding to buy a car and immediately driving off with it. Hell, they even apply for the loan the next day. I like that . Maybe on my next car I'll do ED - if I can find the patience for it .
