ETA to dealer after porting?

So my ship just arrived at the Baltimore port on 8/3. On the bmwusa website, it says my car is still "En route to U.S". my dealer is in Maryland so I was wondering how long it takes to go through finishing touches and to dealer...?

BMWUSA is hopelessly behind. In 2013, my car took 5 days to go from Port Jersey to the dealer. This year, my MY 2015 428i convertible arrived in Port Jersey (NYC's port) on July 30th and my car is expected at the dealer on Thursday, August 7th. So, 5 to 8 days would seem the norm.

BUT, call the BMWUSA tel no. 800-831-1117 and hit "0" -- ask to speak to a person. Ask if there is an estimated dealer delivery date yet. OR, call your sales-person. They should have the most up to date info.

BMWUSA.com tracking is relatively up to date for production -- but not for shipping. BMWUSA tel's recorded info is hopelessly behind. Speak to a person for the most up to date info.

So the process is: port to dealer, then finishing touches at the dealer???? or do they do finishing touches somewhere nearby the port???

Bottom line...you'll pull your hair out trying to figure it all out. The website doesn't have up to date information. The automated phone line is better, but not always up to the minute. The people on phone can only report what has been input into the system. The transport companies don't always transmit info 100% accurately.

For example...my car was reported as delivered to the dealer by the person at BMW. I called my CA and he said he hadn't received a notification that the car arrived, but sure enough the system said it was there. But he couldn't find the car...it wasn't there. Then later that day the truck dropped it off.

The wait sometimes seem painful and you want to know every detail. But in the end, you'll be like me - past the break in period and loving every minute of your new ride!

Mine arrived in Baltimore and had to literally go about 20-30 minutes down the road to reach the dealer. I had the MPPK installed and the MPE installed at port. Overall time from port to dealer was about one week, if that. Once it arrives at the dealer, they'll detail it, fill it up with gas, and do one last inspection. I got lucky, the day it was ready to be picked up was the one day my CA had off so I had to wait until the following day to get it.
