Is this a good deal??

2015 A3 2.0T Premium Plus

$260/mo with $4500 down (tax and all fees included) + 10k miles/year lease for 36 months.

MSRP = $39400 (57% residual)

I have been cross shopping BMW and Audi and was offered this deal from a local dealer.

What do you guys think?

Well kinda hard to compare lease deals on a different brand of car. Depends which car you actually like better.

Pretty bad. $4,500 down for a lease is a BIG no-no. If you roll the down payment and the fees into a monthly payment it would be close to $400.

Audi depreciation is bad, the worst out of the 3 big Germans.

Not bad of a monthly, but the down payment - ouch!

What bothers me is how many miles you are getting.
10k/year is not a lot

Questions: Will this be your daily driver?
How far do you travel to work and home?
Do you drive a lot?

this will be a daily but I won't be driving that much so 10k should be enough

I had a leas once and I said the same thing "ah - I won't be driving much" and I had 10k miles a year 36 months and within the first year I had 25k miles.

That is because I drove a lot without even noticing it.

But that is me.

Just be sure you can be within your miles.

I would do that monthly payment it's just the down payment that is a little too high.

But hey if you have the extra cash, and you REALLY want that car - go for it.

If youre thinking about it too much - keep shopping around.

Not great at all. Plus the low-ish residual. Granted, BMW's residuals are tough to beat, but even the rest of the numbers you have here are nothing special.

And I agree with above miles. You know better than us, but even folks who have leased before get burned on the miles. Usually better just to add more up front.

I think you can lease a golf r for around that much because the residual for that is very high.

I would much rather have that than an A3

Assuming $500 goes to fees and $4,000 goes to capital reduction, $4,000/36 = $110 + $260 = $370/month.

Not exactly. It's more than $110 because if you spread it out over 36 mo, you're going to pay interest on it.

I don't think this is true. When looking into a new car (ended up ordering a 328i Sportline), I looked into a Golf R. They're going for way over MSRP right now (if you can find one...). Wish I could've gotten into one but it looked like it was going to be way more expensive than the 328i...

Leasing 101. You never want to put a down payment on a lease. If the car is loss or totaled in an accident, you loose out on all your down payment and is left with no equity on a leased car.

I agreed with others about Audi residual being very low. I am looking for a lease for my fiancé on the Q5. The low residual is causing the monthly payment to be comparable to the BMW X5 (car costing over $10k more).

Audi residuals are in line with most other leases. BMW residuals are the result of Chinese style currency manipulation. That's great if you're a consumer. I would never put that kind of money down on a lease. If you are sure you want to lease, I think you should really try to find a BMW that ticks the most boxes. Clearly I love Audi's, I've owned one or another continuously for a decade but they just don't lease well because Audi makes no effort to make leasing a better option than buying.

"About" is a relative term. I think it is at least a year away for NA.

You're completely out of your mind if you put $4500 down. You must be smoking crack. And why would you go for a front wheel car? Get the quattro.

4500$ is way to much considering the fact that you are getting a lease. If anything, forget the Audi and put down around 300$ a month for a Beemer, and drop around 1,500-2000$ as down payment.
