My car was in the status 112 for almost 3 weeks before going into production on 11/06(PW45) as scheduled. It didn't get bumped up to earlier build week because they had parts supply issue at the Munich plant.

I got my car with every single option except Parking Assist, so it seems unlikely that any vendor/components could be slowing things up? |

I say this because I placed my order on the East coast and I'm assuming Hans007 might have placed his order somewhere on the west coast. Last edited by rkptl; 11-19-2012 at 10:42 AM.. |

You are right.. It shouldn't matter (and it doesn't make sense either) but I was just trying to come up with a plausible reason based on what I know so far.. I've been waiting for 7 weeks with a status of 112..

1) Your dealer was counting on either an existing PW44 allocation or on trading for a PW44 allocation, but by the time you sent in your deposit / finalized your order, someone else had taken the allocation. 2) Your dealer assigned you a PW44 allocation, but a more profitable deal came along and they gave that person the PW44 and bumped you back to a later allocation. If the situation is #1, your dealer should be up-front with you and explain the situation. If it's #2, well, of course they have incentive to make up a story about delays due to "parts," don't they? Of course, it's also entirely possible there are other scenarios at play here, so I don't want to jump to conclusions too quickly. |

PW46 has already come and gone. They have a live system, and they can tell via your production number if it has gone into status 150 yet. Sounds like he's not telling the truth?

just hoping it gets built for sure this time, i mean in the end we really dont have much control over this, so i figure bugging our CAs a ton isn't going to really help it go faster. |

I think it comes down to how timely do you *need* the car? If it's a hard constraint then I'd cut ties and look for something on a lot, because as SamS has stated, there's holidays to consider and it seems like recently there has been some backup with vehicle port traffic (maybe due to Sandy?). If you can afford to wait, I'd at least convey your annoyance with this and demand some kind of compensation either monetary or in parts.

yeah my production number hasnt changed, and its supposed to be a german build. have no idea whats up. we actually bought 2 cars from this CA... at the same time (my mom liked the idea of ordering so much that she picked up an X3 also) so i'm going to hope he's taking care of us . my current car isnt on a lease or anything so its not really a need issue, just irritating , plus who likes waiting for new toys right? this could just be the worlds way of teaching me patience . |

Interesting, I was under the impression that a production order number = assigned production week. Did you CA send you a screen shot of the vehicle inquiry status report? It should say the requested / assigned production week number on the right-hand-side.
