My car was in the status 112 for almost 3 weeks before going into production on 11/06(PW45) as scheduled. It didn't get bumped up to earlier build week because they had parts supply issue at the Munich plant.

You get the 18"m sport wheels or 19"? I've been sitting in 112 for about 2 weeks so far, 335xi m sport with 18's

When's your production week? Did you receive a production order number?

I ordered my car on 11/05/12, and it was assigned PW46 and immediately was in 112 status. It went into production (status 150) right on time (Nov 12), and I got my VIN that day.

I got my car with every single option except Parking Assist, so it seems unlikely that any vendor/components could be slowing things up?

Did you order an 328 or 335? Looks like the only thing common here is that the US bound 328i M-Sport builds are delayed.. I'm not sure what kind of scheduling BMW uses but based on another members' (Hans007) experience, I think they might be just putting all US bound 328i Msport builds into 1 bucket.

I say this because I placed my order on the East coast and I'm assuming Hans007 might have placed his order somewhere on the west coast.

Neither, ActiveHybrid 3. But it shouldn't matter? They all use the same M-sport components.

You are right.. It shouldn't matter (and it doesn't make sense either) but I was just trying to come up with a plausible reason based on what I know so far.. I've been waiting for 7 weeks with a status of 112..

If you're assigned PW47, your car should go into production by the end of this week. As to why you got bumped from 44 to 47, two possible reasons that I can think of:

1) Your dealer was counting on either an existing PW44 allocation or on trading for a PW44 allocation, but by the time you sent in your deposit / finalized your order, someone else had taken the allocation.

2) Your dealer assigned you a PW44 allocation, but a more profitable deal came along and they gave that person the PW44 and bumped you back to a later allocation.

If the situation is #1, your dealer should be up-front with you and explain the situation. If it's #2, well, of course they have incentive to make up a story about delays due to "parts," don't they?

Of course, it's also entirely possible there are other scenarios at play here, so I don't want to jump to conclusions too quickly.

PW46 has already come and gone. They have a live system, and they can tell via your production number if it has gone into status 150 yet. Sounds like he's not telling the truth?

well he showed me the live system before and it said PW46. he actually screenshotted it when it went 112 and emailed it to me. don't really think he's lying , but it is kind of annoying it hasn't been built yet, the live system from what i saw would just tell him when it got into 150, not why it was in 112 still.

just hoping it gets built for sure this time, i mean in the end we really dont have much control over this, so i figure bugging our CAs a ton isn't going to really help it go faster.

Did your production number ever change? Something just doesn't add up, because I too have a screenshot of my PW46 car, and it's scheduled for completion on Wednesday, which is as expected.

From what I've observed, they should have a pretty good idea of the build timing. Given what you've said, I'd either be concerned about either the honesty or competency of your CA. What if you find out this is a SA build?!?! I put the 1k down payment on 11/8 and was informed on 11/15 that the car was in production and would be completed by 11/22. The dealer traded for this allocation when I refused to take a SA build, which as he put it was "already being built" and could still be "configured to your specifications while on the line".

I think it comes down to how timely do you *need* the car? If it's a hard constraint then I'd cut ties and look for something on a lot, because as SamS has stated, there's holidays to consider and it seems like recently there has been some backup with vehicle port traffic (maybe due to Sandy?). If you can afford to wait, I'd at least convey your annoyance with this and demand some kind of compensation either monetary or in parts.

yeah my production number hasnt changed, and its supposed to be a german build. have no idea whats up. we actually bought 2 cars from this CA... at the same time (my mom liked the idea of ordering so much that she picked up an X3 also) so i'm going to hope he's taking care of us .

my current car isnt on a lease or anything so its not really a need issue, just irritating , plus who likes waiting for new toys right? this could just be the worlds way of teaching me patience .

Interesting, I was under the impression that a production order number = assigned production week. Did you CA send you a screen shot of the vehicle inquiry status report? It should say the requested / assigned production week number on the right-hand-side.
