I still have traffic "info" (I believe from the TMC radio [non-sat] feed) but sat radio is broken & nav traffic is not showing up.

If I remember correctly, in the US the nav uses the sat radio feed for traffic information on the map, so it is logical why both aren't working since they're tied together.

Regarding ConnectedDrive and BMW Online: I believe connected drive & BMW online are options in the US ("convenience plan", BUT, the app should be working still. And I just found out that it is not (the vehicle position/remote unlock/etc. app)


It doesn't make sense why all this randomly stopped working ... I guess I could ask sirius to re-activate it before taking it to the dealership to ask them what's up.

Well LIVE seems to be working fine. Checking with another member it seems I don't have a Combox either.

I have also managed to code Internet so that it can be selected in the list under BMW services and it is not greyed out once my phone has established a Bluetooth connection.
However when selected internet tethering does not kick in as it does with LIVE so that's as far as I got - it is just searching for a connection.

I've also coded the audible beep when locking/unlocking the car if anyone is interested. You can then also switch it on and off in settings within the idrive.

Has anyone managed to code the HUD "display information"? On YouTube I have seen (a 5 series) I drive screens with a lot more options than seemed normal, turning lights and more.

Is there an updated cheat sheet anywhere? The one svache pointed to looked old the last time I checked. (It is still the old June 16 PDF that is linked in the first post.)

When my car arrives (in 3-4 weeks) it will be an F31 of MY 2013 so I guess it will be difficult to find the right files? Will have to wait some time then before tying to code it.

BMW Live can be coded, but it is much easier for those with a Multimedia Combox as Opposed to a Telematics Combox, as we have here stateside. With a Telematics Combox, BMW Assist and BMW Live can not coexist, so BMW Assist needs to be removed from the VO, but without also removing Bluetooth functionality.

Beyond that, if you reside in a country where BMW Live is not offered, you have to write a European VIN # into both the CIC and Combox, and code your Combox to use the coded VIN # instead of the MOST Bus VIN # (i.e. your car's actual VIN #), as follows:

TELEMATIK_VIN = Coding_VIN /Werte=01

This fools the BMW Live Portal servers into thinking you are authorized their use.

The difficulty here is writing the VIN Numbers to the Combox and CIC. While this can easily be done on an Exx Chassis with NCS Expert, I have yet to see a way to do so in E-Sys, and Tool32 lacks a known .prg / job for doing so as well.
If you can get passed that, or you are lucky enough to have a Multimedia Combox and live in a BMW Live allowed country, then you would just Code your CIC as follows:
CONNECTED_DRIVE = aktiv / Werte=01
ONLINE_BROWSER_LIVE = aktiv / Werte=01
I think that ought to get it done.

Newbie success!

What a blast. I may not ever take a wrench to my car. I was able to successfully code weather band radio and also eliminate the iDrive startup nag screen.

For me, this document, followed step by step, worked perfectly.

For the info of others who might try, I was able to code a MY12 F30 built in June, 2012 (late model year production) with E-Sys 3.18.3 and psdzdata 47.4, just as was recommended.

I used a MacBook Air running Win7 64-bit in a Parallels virtual machine. The key to success on an MBA is to turn off WiFi completely and to set the virtual adapter in Parallels to use the bridged network instead of the shared network. If you also use "default network" in the VM settings, you MUST LEAVE WiFi off otherwise you will interrupt the connection and have to start over.

Now that I'm addicted, I would really appreciate someone confirming which modules/settings have to be coded to close the side mirrors with Comfort Access closing and reopening them automatically with CA.

In case you didn't figure it out yet, the message is LITERALLY correct. c:\esysdata\swe exists by default. It's created by installation, though it's empty.

The "target" in the mklink command cannot exist.

Think about it: you're setting up a link to something else. The thing that is linked (source) MUST exist, but the thing that's the target MUST NOT exist.

Erase the target directory and reissue the command. It works perfectly.

What would one do in E-Sys and how would you use the ncd files you created in the initial backup? Would you just wholesale replace the files with the backup and re-code each module?

After you have activated the audible clock confirm, make sure the box is ticked in idrive > settings > locks

Hope fully that should enable it.

The process to restore an individual .ncd file is similar to reading the existing coding data, but instead of selecting "READ", you select "NEW", and navigate to and select the saved .ncd file with the same CAFD name, and then FDL Code the ECU. Each ECU would have to be restored individually, which should not be an issue as I can not imagine a sceanrio where someone was having to restore them all en masse.

I have it selected in iDrive but no sound when i lock the car. Do i need to have the OEM alarm system for this to work?

Cant we add current speed to the little menu under the speedo? like how when you set the cruise speed it appears..

I only know how to get Internet working on Combox equipped cars, and that involves writing a fake VIN with factory options 614 and 615 to the Combox, and then coding the Combox to use the fake VIN as opposed to the car's real VIN obtained from the Most Bus.

What is your HU_CIC CAFD file name so I can look at the functions it has?
