Did you specify the folding mirrors as an option ? If not then you can't code them without replacing both mirrors to ones which have electric motors in them.

the mirrors are electronic for some reason with the option turned on the mirrors will not fold in.

Must have something to do with the convertible aspect of it.

What I-Step level you on? Someone mentioned once they updated to 56.2, the parameters for mirror folding changed position due to added parameters, so the CAFD description that the Launcher injected from 55.1 doesn't match anymore.

I'll try and see if I can find that post again and post the changed parameters.

EDIT: Found 'em. Try setting "PfExternalMirrorMaster_1_1_1" and "PfExternalMirrorMaster_8_8_1" to aktiv and see if that gets them folding. Let me know how it goes!

What's _1_1_1 and 8_8_1? I'm on 55.3 and haven't had luck since I bought my F23.

I've set all of the following

KOMFORTSCHLIESSUNG_FB Aktiv
KOMFORTSCHLIESSUNG_PA Aktiv
ASP_BEIKLAPPEN_BEI_KONFORTSCHLIESSEN Akitv
ASP_AUSKLAPPEN_NACH_KOMFORTSCHLIESSEN Aktiv

Strangely if I disable this parameter, the mirrors will fold I won't be able to put the top up or down from inside or outside.

FA_CABRIO_VERDECK_MODUL Nicht_Aktiv

I coded an F33 435i built in November 2013 on Saturday and it worked fine there. I also coded a 2012 F13 that got updated to 56.1 and it also worked there fine.

I have feeling that if the OP changes his build date to 07/13 and codes FEM_BODY with the folding mirror parameters, it will work. I on the other hand may be out of luck since the earliest build date I can use for the F23 is 11/14.

I'm pretty certain that something was changed for 2015 model vehicles.

Then I guess it must be just a convertible thing. I was thinking of something else. If you want to read more about the codes I posted, check here. I just saw folding mirrors not working, gave a possible solution for others having issues coding it.

You are on 55.3, so I don't think this may pertain to you, it may be just that you are a convertible. But I'm not sure. Hopefully your production date work around may give success!

Thanks! That worked on my friend's F30 328i that was recently updated to 56.2. We were wondering why the mirrors wouldn't fold and you pretty much told us why.

I'm probably still out of luck on my convertible

How would I go about changing the build date. and would that affect anything else in the car.

Read FA -> Edit -> Go down to Zeitkreterium and change that to 0314 (March 2014) and save.

Activate that FA then right click FEM_BODY and select code.

After that's done, go to read coding data and make the necessary changes for folding mirrors.

There is a risk but it's minimal since I doubt that there has been any significant hardware changes between a '14 435i Cab and a '15 435i Cab.

Let me know if this works. I can't do this on mine because my build date can only go as far back as 1114 (November 2014) so I'm stuck

Before you code it, go to options and make sure "Write FA to VCM" is unchecked. That way, when you VO code it, it won't automatically write and your FA will remain the same.

Just leave it unchecked. I always leave it unchecked unless I really do need something to write to the FA.

then only time you would need something to write to the FA is things like 6NS and 2TB right?

( I bet all the acronyms look super confusing to people)

You can always write the FA manually so leave it unchecked so you don't write it by mistake

What do you mean by write it manually. are you referring to the Part under the VCM menu?

No, you wouldn't.

So under your E-Sys settings, in to Options and uncheck both "Update VCM after TAL execution" and "Update MSM after TAL execution".

The reason for this is because every time you FDL code of VO code your vehicle with these checked, it updates the FA in the vehicle that you have modified, which is not what you want to do, especially when coding other people's cars. It's best to keep your original unmodified FA written to the vehicle as it can easily cause TAL calculation errors when later attempting to flash the vehicle. For example, I was not able to successfully Upgrade my I-Step level and flash the entire vehicle because I removed 5AP and 8S4 and had that FA written to the vehicle. So I had to go back and find the original backup FA of my vehicle that I saved when I first started coding.

When you are coding a vehicle, you can Read the FA, Save it, Edit it, and then activate it, and then VO code any ECU that would be affected by the modified FA. The modified FA should not be written to the vehicle and it would do nothing additionally and it is not how your FA came from factory. You wouldn't want to later VO code certain ECUs that may have modified values due to the modified FA, since something like a production date value change and affect the communication between the modules.

So changing the production date can change the behavior of some modules as Aritaurus mentioned. For example, if I have a 2014 vehicle and VO coded my KOMBI with a production date of a 2015 vehicle, my clock would move from the middle of the screen to the bottom right, something that has not been found as an FDL code. Different module reactions to different production dates. So he's suggesting that since some of the cabriolets have had folding mirrors work on early production vehicles, it may be worth trying to VO code FEM_BODY (and any other additional EDU that may pertain to cabrios) to an earlier production date to make it have the same behavior as before.

Will the change of production date affect the version of CAFD assigned to an ECU firmware or just some function values in CAFD when coding? Or in other words, will (or should) the change of Zeitkriterium in FA affect any thing in the VST target?

Is it true that the change of Zeitkriterium will have no effect in FDL coding?

I am trying to have a better understanding about the exact role of Zeitkriterium (time criterion).
