Car hesitates after installing intake/cp/dp
I installed an Injen intake and ER CP/DP this weekend and I'm getting a hesitation during part throttle. It seems as if the car has a hiccup, hahaha. I have a JB4 that I need to install, ran out of time/energy when I installed everything else.
Before I put it on, I want to resolve this issue first. I've seen where some people have unplugged their MAF because of aftermarket intake issues. Should I give that a try? |

I believe you can only unplug the MAF when running a tune such as a JB4...I don't think the stock DME signals would be okay with running MAF less. Double check for boost leaks, specifically the o-rings on the charge pipe.

I misread that part, thought he had JB4 already. Def check the CP for leaks. MAF should be ok with stock tune

is there supposed to be an o-ring on the throttle body side of the cp?
when i took my stock cp off, it didn't have one at the top. i did move the o-ring on the intercooler side over to the new cp. also, im wondering if an exhaust leak could be the issue because it sounds like there is an exhaust leak. |

I had this issue also. It's your intake. I installed the jb4 and unplugged the maf and it went away.
mine would occur when partially on the throttle, around 3-4krpms it would hesitate and then abruptly pick up speed. As if I had instantly hit a wall of boost. |

Seems that most of the issues are open intake. When I got my bms intake I had the same hesitation issue when my car was stock. A week after, I sold the bms intake and I got the afe momentum pro intake that is sealed and issue was resolved.

Would not worry a great deal if you have an exhaust leak--I had a small on on my DP and it was just a sound. You can re-seat the DP later. Most likely there is an issue with the intake. Once again this is why I always say to install one mod at a time as you will know the variable--you have 3 items to evaluate in this case.

This would have never worked when I built the engine myself on my last car. That 6 month rebuild would have taken years doing one thing at a time. lol

Glad to hear the issue is resolved. Maybe look into the implications of leaving MAF unplugged long term as I would assume they have it for a reason

Ive been having jb4 for a while but i just installed a bms intake last week. I havent noticed anything weird except for a stumble when i floor it during 3rd gear logs. Stumbles/bogs then takes off fine.

i recently did similar mods with ER FMIC + DP + CP+ TIC running on JB4 map4, i have the same hesitation as well normally at 3k++ the power just releases upon hitting this RPM. I did not change the intake, does it mean that i can remove the MAF as well from my intake and i would get a smooth power/torque curve.
i also posted my logs to BMS and there does not seem to be any boost leak but i have been asked to provide another log with a wider RPM band to be sure. I'm hitting max 23-24psi of boost in my logs but the hesitation is unberable for me. and there seems to be some turbo lag at lower RPM, im suspecting the FMIC is too large compared to the stock version which has very minimal turbo lag |
