Spied: BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe M Sport in Estoril Blue II
BIMMERPOST NEWS Clear Look at the 4 Series Gran Coupe M Sport (Estoril Blue II) The previous set of 4 Series Gran Coupe photos may have given us our first look at the M Sport package equipped model, but our new photos give us the best look yet, and in Estoril Blue II, which has proved to be the most popular 4 Series color among our members yet (see color poll). The Gran Coupe variant (F36) of the 4 Series effectively shares the same exterior styling as the Coupe, but with an elongated roofline and an extra pair of doors. The interior will also be shared with the other 4 Series models [previous interior spy pics]. The 4 Series Gran Coupe will debut next year, with production possibly by 3rd-4th quarter of 2014. The F36 will generally feature the same model and engine lineup as the Coupe (F32) and Convertible models (F33). Expect it to be priced and positioned in the 3/4 Series lineup just as the 6 Series Gran Coupe is positioned in the 5/6 Series lineup -- in between the coupe and convertible models. As for an M4 Gran Coupe variant? Despite the previous rumors surrounding it, we were recently told by a trustworthy source not to expect one. Time will tell on this... I still don't get the point of making 4 door versions of the 4 or 6 series. I guess there is a market for them, but seems to me it takes away sales from the 3 and 5?

What makes you think the 4GC will be larger than the 3? Regarding weight, the F32 is not heavier than the F30, so one would think the F36 would not pay much of a weight penalty at all.

Anyone else think this just looks like a 3 series sedan with a 4 series nose? It doesnt even look lower and sleeker like the 6 GC.

What's there not to understand
A4=f30 A5=f32 A5sportback=f36 It's called keeping up with the market. They're not going to live from few of you guys that are purists, who would be only happy if they were stoped making any changes after E46. World is changing and bmw to stay on the top has to go with a flow, so stop whining and deal with it. |

I'm a bit disappointed. I LOVE the 6-series GC and thought the 4-series GC would be something along those lines but it is just "meh" (the coupe looks great).

Fair enough many people don't see the value in this model, but there is definitely a large market for those that would love a coupe but want the practicality of 4 doors and decent rear seats for the occasional passengers.
Will definitely be trading in my 328 for this when it is available, looks like a beaut!

Yeah I could do it in M4 Gran Coupe trim. I'm actually not a big 428/435 fan after sitting in them. I want that elongated proportion.

This doesn't seem as distinguished from the 3 as the 6 GC is from the 5 from what I can tell. We'll have to wait and see the full thing I guess!
Prrretty sure the name is just 4 Series Gran Coupe (as the title says). |

People who initially wanted 3 series now have opportunities to pay more and get the 4er. It totally makes sense or maybe you need to study how business works. |

I think its a big mistake if BMW doesn't make a M4 GC, that would make more sense than the M3.
I am wondering if part of the reason is possibly stealing M5 sales! Since Audi doesn't bring the A5 4 door here, and Mercedes has a tiny CLA and larger CLS, is there really any competition for the 4 series GC? I know Porsche is supposed to come out with a smaller panamera in something like 2017. |
