F30 335 xi Spare Tire kit arrived

Although a bit pricey since it is BMW OEM I ordered the spare tire kit from ECS tuning for my 335 xi. It arrived today exactly when ECS said it would. This is the OEM kit available outside the US. I had called several dealers and gave them the BMW part number and none could figure out how to order it.

I was just thinking about this today. Does this stow away in the trunk's lower compartment or would you need to keep it loose in the trunk?

It would have to be loose in the trunk unfortunately. That kit looks great. It's always better to have a spare than to get stuck out in the middle of nowhere if your RTF's fail. Since I'm getting new tires, I'm going to strongly consider getting one of these as well.

Last I checked, it was around $540.

Ouch, that's expensive. I guess it provides some piece of mind. But in 40 years of driving, I've never had a catastrophic tire failure. I've picked up a nail several times. (for a while there I was picking up roofing nails on a regular basis when the neighborhood got hit with a terrible hail storm and almost everyones insurance paid for new roofs.) Even with NRFTs I'm able to keep them pumped up enough to drive to some place.

Here is a littel cheaper solution:

http://www.bimmerzone.com/BMW_Perfor...0-328-KIT.html

Much cheaper looking standard black rim, but it will do the job. tire, storage tote and jack 336.

Why is only for non-M Sport models? Front bumper clearance?
