1. Overall dimension to stay within E46 proportion/profile. KEEP THE WEIGHT DOWN!

2. Balanced interior door handle (both driver and passenger side) as E84 X1.

3. Improve interior layout/quality as F10 5er.

4. Better use of strong/light weight material.

5. Better fuel efficiency.

• Continue to offer 6 speed manual (My #1 must have)
• Optional CDV Delete as factory build option (contingent on above)
• Keep hill assist for manual (contingent on above)
• Equip true LED angel eyes (brighter and modern)
• Return to center console window/door lock controls
• Keep double pull interior door handle unlock
• Make passenger mirror tilt in reverse standard equip
• Offer non-runflat option with ZSP pack
• Offer optional LSD from factory as supplement to ZSP pack (allow for financing the $1500 + part)
• Rest for air conditioning as well as already developed heat (I love this feature)
• Do not use the same soft plastic that is currently used for the center console coin holder in non i-drive cars. Degrades almost instantly and looks cheap

I think I already contributed, but after reading some of the other responses, I'll also say:
- keep weight as light as possible
- LSD part of ZSP
- always have a MT option
- bring back the cockpit curved toward driver

No way! We are talking about BMW here not 1989 Honda Accord. Center console window controls c'mon we are not in 80's anymore.

Better standard fit stereo - I know there needs to be a reason to tick the options box for the premium stereo, but the standard E90 one is very very poor!

Better placement of aux-port and 12v/cig lighter. People often use aftermarket satnavs and like to have the ipod sat outside the armrest cubby hole.

Lose the auto-dimming rear view mirror, and just have a manual 'tilt' option instead. Is that a police-car behind me?! No idea thanks to the auto-dimming mirror

+10. You said it.

The Nav integration looks much better on the X1 (and the F10) than on the (current) 3-series.

Take the most commonly ordered options and just make them standard.

Take all safety equipment and make it standard. There's really no good reason why an element that makes a car safer to ride in should be optional.

Put a cup holder in the center console.

Cut back on all the options. All of the following should be standard equipment:
- iPod and usb adapter (do any BMW owners not have iPods?)
- All airbags
- Alarm system
- Comfort access
- Excellent sound system - Logic 7 or other brand. There's no excuse for mediocre music systems.
- Xenon lamps (again, more of a safety item)
- Blind spot sensor (again, a safety item)
- Electric seats, windows and locks
- Headlamp washers (again, a safety item)
- Bluetooth (regardless of whether it includes BMW Assist service) (again, a safety item)
- Automatic high beams
- Auto-dimming interior rearview mirror
- Fold down rear seats
- Lumbar support (when is lumbar support a bad thing?)
- Rear and side window shades (do any of us live in perpetual darkness?)
- Paddle shifters should accompany automatic tranny not the sport package.

Other things:
- Cold weather package should allow any steering wheel to be heated
- Stop mandating what color I can have if I want the M Sport Package
- Offer either the sport package or the M Sport package, not both
- Interior headliner color - this should be an option
- Offer white leather, at least for coupes and convertibles
- Chocolate brown leather is a better color than Chestnut Brown

Things that should be options:
- Cold Weather Package: ski bag, heated seats (front and rear) and steering wheel.
- M Sport (or simply Sport) Package -- adds bigger wheels, gripier tires, stiffer suspension, limited slip diff, dual clutch tranny, assorted bits of fiberglass/rubber/plastic to improve aerodynamics, black, red or yellow brake calipers, and serious sport seats.
- M Sport + Package - adds carbon roof and ceramic brakes to the M Sport Package
- Travelers Package -- Adds navigation, active cruise control, satellite radio subscription for 1 year.
- Maintenance Package -- provides free maintenance for 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 years, with varying prices for each duration. Let buyers/lessees determine whether they want to pay for it or not. (Based on what they suggest for just 2 years of maint./warranty, I'd guess $4,000 of our cars' price is this silly maintenance scheme they have now.)

This is pretty good idea. Indeed, in DC to take a driver's road test, the vehicle you take to the test must have a center mounted hand brake.

Anything is better than having to reach all the way down and to the left in order to access window controls in my e92. (like a full 30" away)

My old e46 was great. Didn't even have to divert any attention from the wheel/shift knob in order to unlock/open windows.

1. Make the Performance accessories available to be factory fitted when you order the car.
2. M Sport to include LSD and more alloy wheel options.
3.Damper control and adjustable steering weight (like in the M3) as an option.
4.Better quality stereo.
5.Do not increase the weight!
6.HUD optional

I think really what everyone is looking for overall is a more sporty version. Combining all of what people have said:
-higher boost
-no rft's
-lower suspension
-LSD
-among others...
what people are looking for is BMW to go back to its performance core, it's where they started, it's where they belong.

people have to realize the things they want, aren't for everyone. They need to be OPTIONS though, that's what's really lacking.

amber tails. Copy the E46 coupe LEDs with the new form factor.

either put a power point in the typical cigarette lighter spot or pre hardwire my V1

3rd pedal better stay put throughout the series.

Start below $60,000. Please and thank you.

This would never happen but would be awesome: The ability to customize to customize the CBS system (after the warranty expires of course) and make your own maintenance intervals and add ones that aren't in there. I would shorten the oil change to 7,500 miles and add in transmission fluid changes for sure!

Indeed. I wouldn't mind seeing a 335ti (or whatever you'd like to call it) for about $5-8K over the regular i model. 350hp... 3300-3400lbs seems realistic. That might be getting into M3 territory though
