Not sure why some are surprised here. From what i can recall, before the EU was formed, 80's some 90's. Many people used to buy a gray or yellow E cla$$ Mercedes Benz and register it as a "taxi" this would avoid paying all kinds of Taxes(engine tax size?) and less registration and less insurance fees. They would just use the car as a person car, pretty much screwing the governments

At least that's what i was told by my relatives when i visited Italy and Greece.

I have a feeling this is what this guy is doing........don't know if he is "f*cking the government in some way, shape or form

In Europe, BMW and Mercedes taxis are common since they are considered domestic cars. For example, I've taken them in Paris.

As others have said, it's a real taxi in Taiwan.

I see this a lot actually. Rich parents buy kid an expensive car. Kid can't find any jobs so he paints his car yellow and start doing taxi. Lots of freedom, you work when you want, do what you want. However once you go down this road it's hard to get out. Lots of youths wasted this way. You see lots of modded cars turned into taxis.

I rode in a late model Mercedes Benz E Class taxi in Romania. It was a manual too!

I don't think this is too crazy for Taiwan. My last trip there I saw a new E-class there as a cab. The cab drivers told me with the large selection of cabs out there thats how they get customers. People will save his info and he will be busy all day because people want to ride in a luxury car vs conventional cabs.

In Hawaii guys drive Lexus RX/LS's as cabs sometimes too, slightly older models but not beat up at all.

Can't knock the guy for driving what he loves everyday as a job right?
