Michelin A/S 3 Back Order

My car is arriving soon so I called Tire Rack to find out how long it will take to ship the Michelin Pilot A/S 3 tires. I plan on replacing the RF Summer Tires that come with the 19" Staggered setup (225/40/19 front and 255/35/19 rear). I was told that although the rears are in stock, the fronts aren't in until December 4th +/-. The salesperson (good guy like everyone at Tirerack) said that the front tire size hadn't even been released yet but I know at least one person on here or the other site that has them already so I am not sure that is actually correct. Tire Rack suggested maybe that I use 245/35/19's in the front, but I would rather not have different height tires (although only .25") and I am not sure how they would look. What do you think about that option?

Also, anyone else know where else I should look to order these tires or even if they are actually available at this time?

Call Michelin and ask specifically about the production date for the tires. Then add about 15-20 days to the prod date for delivery to your door step.

I'll do that tomorrow. I checked a bunch of sites online and none show the 225/40/19 as available. It's a bit risky waiting until December for the tires. We've had snow early in the year the last couple of years. Other choice is to go with DWS's or RE970's. Sucks as I had my heart set on the AS 3's.

yeah, but its winter performance has not been proven yet.
DWS is the better for winters, but has mushier sidewalls compared almost all other tires in this category

Michelin stated to expect winter performance equal to the AS Plus which rated decent to good in snow.

I am doing the exact same, but was told the rear tires aren't available yet and the front ones are from Kal Tire. Anyways I paid 15% deposit to order them and the ETA is for early November. Tire has excellent reviews and can't wait for improved ride quality with these.

I never heard of KAL Tire (but I am from the US). Called them up to give it a shot but they don't have the front 225's in stock. They said they would call Michelin on Monday but it looks like Canada may be in the same situation with these tires.

Anybody try putting 245/35's on their front 8" 403M rims? I assume you can't get the 255s on the 8" stock 403's or it may just look funny, rub or something else?

Try Costco.com. I just got got some from there for my 18s that were back ordered on tirerack.com. Costco drop shipped them the very next day, didn't charge for shipping, and they have a $70 off promo.

Checked online but the 225/40/19 doesn't come up. Only the 255/35/19 rears. Ugh.

Same situation here...have the fronts and rears on order from Discount Tire. The fronts (225-19's) were originally scheduled to be released Oct 1. Then delayed until Nov 1. Now Michelin is saying early Dec. Hopefully that holds, because any later than that and I'll have to go with something else.

Being in NY, I can't wait that long. Option now is going with the DWS (which I am leaning towards) or going 245/35/19 up front. Issue is that the front would be 1/4" smaller diameter and I'm not sure how that could adversely affect the AWD system. The circumference on that tire would be 1" less than the rears.
