You mean "Feeling out the tune at higher speeds"? I mean I was going fast and doing some pulls. Up the West Virginia Mountains, down then, around them, etc.

Like I said before I was not being gentle with the speeds and still averaged 41mpg over 3500 miles. Worthy of note the return mileage was over 42 and the going mileage was under 41. So statistically a small difference considering the tune was applied at about the 850 mile mark of the going trip. See attached pics.

Since jdr78569's PM inbox is full:

Unfortunately I wasn't able to get my 328d tuned at Mission Performance the other day in Rancho Cucamonga, CA.

When we pulled the DDE out of the car they saw that it was very different from the DDEs in the '14-'15 cars. The enclosure, PCB, processor, and more is different. We noticed that this is more similar to the DDEs used in the 535d and X5 35d than the '14-'15 328d DDEs. Alex said he thinks they moved the SCR computer from a separate module onto the main DDE. They were able to pull some information off of it, but need to figure out how to read the tune information since various I/Os are different.

Since I'm not local to them, they said they might be able to tune it later this year when they're in the Bay Area. I asked if JR/AAR could tune it, and they said it wasn't likely those guys had worked with this new DDE either.

I'm planning on going with a stage 1 tune. They said stage 2 will decrease the life of the DPF significantly, and should really only be used with removed emissions components. One of their shop cars is a 328d with their RWD conversion, emissions equipment removal, and stage 2+ tune. They said that the particulate matter coming out the back is significant and gets the rear pipe/bumper dirty fairly quickly.

BTW, if any of you guys with '14-'15 328d DDEs are interested in a spare DDE, the one I bought for my tune won't work with my car since it came from a '15. LMK if you're interested in it.

Sorry about that i didn't realize it was full, cleared it out now. Dang i wonder if mines going to be like that; guess ill see monday. Im going for the stage 2 but AARodriguez said theirs no issues or future issues from the stage 2, do they use different components and resources, maybe that why they said that about the stage 2. AARod's stage 3 is larger so they do the emissions removal. How much for the DDE. Im considering keeping my original stock and tuning an extra just incase but i don't know if that necessary. Mines also a 14 so maybe it won't work though idk PM me part number and details

I just got off the phone with AAR, and it doesn't sound like they've tuned any '16 or '17 328ds before and weren't aware of the new LCI DDE either.

So I'm going to caution that while JR and AAR's site may say they can tune '16 328ds, they probably can't.

You'll be just fine. Lots have been done with the DDEs from the '14-'15s. AAR told me they hadn't actually worked on a '16 (or '17) before.

Not sure who you talked to. Mine is a '16 and was the first customer car tuned back in July. Which so happened to also be the first of the '16 DDE they had seen.

I spoke to Andrew himself. He mentioned that the last '15 car he did had a different DDE than he was used to, maybe he was misremembering your car as a '15. I explicitly asked him if they had done any '16s or '17s.

Likely the one then. Mine did have a new DDE that took Jarek a little extra time to "fix".

In North Carolina they don't even do an emissions test on diesel cars. The only thing that they should check, but never do, is that all the emissions equipment is actually there (including muffler). Removing any of those is illegal, but never once has anybody put a car on a lift to inspect for intact emissions equipment.

How long have you had a diesel car? Do they plug the car into an OBDII scanner during inspection in NY? Do they use an actual tail pipe sniffer?

Tuning newb here - Not trying to thread jack. Just wanted to avoid creating another post. I've been doing some searching, and so far i understand the various types of tunes available. But looking maybe for some opinions at this point.

Goal: Some extra pep in my 2014 328d's step. I commute to work every day about 20-25 min, with mixed traffic which results in occasionally needing to really hit the gas to get away from the slow lane drivers but not get hit by the people going 75mph. Also do some spirited in town driving. Never plan on taking my car to the track, no street racing, etc. Just looking to negate that initial turbo lag and get some better response/acceleration.
I had an '09 128i and that thing was fun. What would be some reasonably priced solutions for this? The plug-and-play idea intrigues me most since it's so easily added/removed. But what are some opinions from those of you who know a hell of a lot more than I?

Just to update, my 328d is now fully deleted and stage3 JR. I went with the buzzken downpipe with welded in CAT and full exhaust replacement. The DPF was so easy to remove as opposed to the 335d and especially the x5d. Definitely a meaner sounding growl from the car now. I am interested to see how she performs against a M57 stock engine or an N57 stock engine.

Out of curiosity, did anything major need to be removed or disconnected to get the DPF out? For example: I had to remove the passenger side drive shaft when I deleted the DPF on my Volkswagen. With the 328d engine mounted longitudinally, there appears to be plenty of room to potentially remove the particulate assembly without any major issues.

Was super easy to pull out. There is a coolant line that runs from the engine to the urea injector to warm/cool it that had to be looped similar to the X5 coolant line for the rear egr. Had the DPF out, downpipe mounted, and new exhaust mounted in about 2 hrs.

Hey after doing the deletes and tune, is there more sound in the cabin? And any chance you do a review on your take of the stage 3 tune and deletes?

Normal driving no difference in sound inside the cabin. Get on it and the exhaust gets more angry but not obnoxiously so like a riced out Honda. Has some turbo whistle but nothing like my X5. Has some diesel smell until the CAT is heated up. Faint diesel smell afterwards. We can call that Prius repellant.

Will do some videos and followup later. Changing bumpers out for some M bumpers now so she's being worked on.

Any update on this? With a week left on my warranty, I have another CEL code, for I expect is AGAIN another emissions related code (this would be my fourth code, all due to emission sensors).

Hoping to get a stage 3 in the not so distant future
