Why are dealers so difficult?

I went to have my 335 serviced tonight because I'm at 15k already and I am putting the car into storage next week... I don't want to have to leave it for 4 to 5 months with old oil in it and I wanted it prepped for storage...

The computer says I can drive the car another 2400 miles before I need new oil, mind you I've added 3 quarts since picking it up, so the dealer won't do the service... I have the service reminder to bring it in on my dash when I start the car but that's not enough... I said just count this as my once a year but that doesn't matter... I told the guy I was storing it and his response "it's not that bad to leave it with old oil in it, I mean its a lease so it doesn't matter", I know it's not that bad but I'm very particular with my cars and its in the best interest of BMW to let me do that so my question is who do I call?

Thanks for the suggestions!

This is why "free" maintenance sucks so hard.

just had the same issue. went to the dealer Tuesday for an oil change because i was at 15k. he told me it would be $140 unless i waited 2200 more miles. so i just said whatever, i'll wait. can't believe you added 3 quarts though. mine still says full.

Like you said, its a lease, so don't worry about it.

Note to self: "add this post to my list of reasons why I will never buy a lease return"

unfortunately it's not the dealer. It's BMWNA that is tying the dealers hands. if they do it before it is actually technically due it will not get covered. that is the reason why they are turning you away and obviously you don't want to come out of pocket it on it. Also the F30 can go longer on oil changes timewise than the E90.

I put my cars away too. My car wasn't on lease but on ran into this problem.Part of my business is to tear big engines and transmissions down and rebuild them.I wouldn't sweat it too much ,putting it away like that .I know it would be nice to know you have fresh oil in the car for spring but its really no big deal .But the response about it being a lease so it doesn't matter is just plain asinine

and that's why their "certified pre-owned" isn't wise...

If you want the oil changed, look for service specials on nearby dealers' websites, print the coupon and blow $90 on an oil change on your $50K car.

It would be asinine for someone to pay for extra oil changes if they are leasing the car.

BMW dealers don't want to do services until they are due because if they do it and the cbs says it is not due the dealer will not get paid for the job done by BMW NA! They have to go by NA rules! Suxs but that's reality!

Can't the OP just go to Jiffy Lube and pay $40 for new oil. Or does that void the warranty? J/K.

You should be able to get a free oil change every 15k or once a year. Check with another dealer.

you only get the free oil change when the car says its ready. dealers are very strict with this.
