MPPK on a 2014 F32....dealer quote

Am considering putting in the MPPK (but not MPE) on my 2014 F32. It only has just over 20K miles on it so it is pretty young in that respect.

Was quoted US$2200, which includes the software, engine cover and new air box. Price includes installation (which was not separated out).

Seems a bit high compared to my research here on the forums. Has anyone here had this installed recently?

Thats crazy expensive. Install the engine cover and air box yourself and save money. Just have them do the software part. Should be no more than $200. Shop it around at different dealers. Also, try pricing it out from a forum sponsor for the kit.

Had mine installed at the dealer for $1300 soup to nuts on my 14 335.

Are you getting the MPPK due to being under warranty still?

I just did this. I bought the kit on eBay for $1250 and had it installed by BMW for $100. I installed the air box and engine cover myself.

The MPPK is sold online by BMW dealers (Atlanta) for around $1400 with coupons.

Thanks for the replies, all.

I'm in Canada so we're used to paying more for things, but this is significantly higher. My dealer is the only one in my city, so I'm bit a stuck.

As for the warranty question (a good one) - that didn't enter my mind, but it has now. I'm on an extended warranty so I'd like to preserve that.

Will have to give some thought to how I want to play this. I'd love the tune, but I'm not willing to shell out that kind of money for it. And no, I'm not terribly interested in a jb4 and whatnot, but I absolutely respect those who go for those tunes. Just not for me.

Nothing wrong with wanting to preserve your warranty. I went MPPK/MPE because I'm still covered under CPO for another two years. If I wasn't, I'd probably flash tune to BM3 for a fraction of the price. I'm happy with my decision so far. I'll be adding a Dinan Sport by the end of the week as well, hopefully my CP holds up

Hey bud how do you like the Dinan Sport w/MPPK? Did it make a significant difference in HP/Torque?

Yes. I had the MPPK for 3 months before installing the Dinan sport tuner. I've only had the sport in for a week, but there is definitely a noticeable difference. Dinan's tune stacks on the MPPK, so add 30 HP and 40 Torque to whatever your car had with the MPPK.

I took it out yesterday for a dealer visit and could definitely tell that there was power missing. You will not lose the burbles the MPPK brings with the Dinan tune.

I have not noticed any issues with power delivery, I believe it is an awesome product. I saw a forum post recently where someone was selling one for $200, if you're looking!

Awesome, I'll take a look. Thanks for the info.

PS - How much HP/Torque do you think you're making now?

I'm estimating 353 and 393 with a manual. In an auto, you'll make 20-30 more torque. This was based on Dinan's stock MPPK dyno and simply adding the 30 and 40 the tuner adds. The intercooler might add a few at high rpm, but I have no way of knowing.

Edit: I found the cheap tuner yesterday but lost it.... If I find it, I'll PM you the link.

Edit 2: PM sent
