+1 If they won't sell you a 335i for ED, find a different dealer. Non M cars do not come out of dealer allocations. They can do as many 335i ED orders as they want.

what I dont understand here is that ppl buy the 328 because its cheaper and than they mod it to be as fast as 335 and in that process they spend more money than the difference between the two

I drove both 328i and 335i back to back multiple times. Both on freeway and streets. The 328i was just fine around town, plenty of power. Way more fun to drive than the audi a4 quattro. Only problem was on the highway it lost some steam, where the 335i still had more to give.
My theory is they're trying not to sell/build as many 335i's because the n55 successor is going to come out in the F32. May have some more horsepower which will give a bigger lead over the 328i. None-the-less the current 335i is supposed to have the PPK in november and the way I built both, the difference was only 4k, which was close enough to go for a 335i. Plus, here in SoCal there are quite a few 335i's coming on boats right now so finding one is not a problem. |

Warranty i dont worry about. I have reasons and friends for that. In my case i am spoiled. My exhaust was free. I have spent nothing.

$1200 makes an n20 faster. Not sure of your math.

Not much of the weight difference. IMO price is still the big issue. Who would still go buy a 328i if the pirce is same as 335i??

ok its not the $3000 difference that I calculated but still it is not much different and with all those mods ur voiding ur warranty just so it can go as fast as 335i or little bit faster imo its not really worth it but that's just me

I guess ppl have their own budget, when its over their budget they would not spend even one more penny.

Comparing objective performance data, there's a fairly narrow gap for the step up to a 335. I certainly lobbied for one anyways but my wife decided the 328 was enough for her. Now, I'm glad she did so because driving it, I agree. It's perfect for what we got it for. We have the SRT8 for a roadtrip car (and is my daily driver anyways so it was up to her what she wanted for hers)
