Where exactly was your "German-made"car built?

Regarding f30s, I understand it is difficult to get a clear interpretation of the 11th digit in a BMW VIN number. This is where the plant code is supposed to reside, telling you where the particular car was made.

I have found several tables through a Google search purportedly showing a way to decipher the plant code. Most of them are dated, circa 2007 or older.

Here is one, about a year old. But even with this one, the author cautionsus that it may be outdated and/or inaccurate:

A,F,G,K = Munich, Germany
B,C,D = Dingolfing, Germany
E,J = Regensburg, Germany

Can anyone update this information or clarify what's going on for us?

My understanding is that the F30s coming from Germany are all out of the Munich plant, they specifically re-engineered many parts of the plant to maximize space in the middle of the city.

I toured the Munich plant when they were doing the conversion to re-tool for the F30. The plant layout stayed the same, they just added nice new presses, and I'm sure a few other things. South Africa got the same updates.

Per BMW this is not true: 3ers are also made in Regensburg

To the posters who claim to have Munich made cars,

1. How specifically do you know?
2. What is the 11th digit of your VIN?

Thanks.

thats a SA build car. rossyln south africa.
all bmws aside from the M cars are WBA regardless of country of origin. bmw consolidated and removed the US origin vins from use around 1999 IIRC. all cars are now WBA or WBS

Yeah, that's as German as any other place over there. If fact the Regensburg plant won the JD Power award for the best EU manufacturer a couple of years ago...came in 2nd in the world. That's where the M cars are built I believe.

Why do you guys generally feel bad about African built cars? Is there a big difference in quality?
