who has driven a RWD 340 w/ m-sport suspension? thoughts?
I'm coming off a 335 x-drive m-sport with DHP. To change things up, I ordered a RWD m-sport with passive suspension. Wondering if I will regret it. I admit that I drive the car mostly in comfort mode but I'm kinda thinking that it makes me loaf the car around like a Camry. If I'm going to rock a 50+k sports sedan, shouldn't I be reminded that I'm in one?
Anyhow, any reviews on the passive m-sport suspension? Will I miss adaptive suspension? |

If you're going to get M-Sport, and you're aware enough to ask the question, get Adaptive. If you do not, you will regret is as long as you have the car.

I've driven it with passive and I actually prefer it to the adaptive that I have on my 435i. To me, with the 340 they got the suspension just right and I wouldn't change a thing. It's much closer to the E90, while far more livable every day.

I had a 2012 335i Sportline that unfortunately lost its life September 2014. I picked up our 2016 340i M-Sport (passive) March 2nd and thought it was going to feel like a rock, it doesn't and I love it. I haven't had a chance to do any real spirited driving yet, but for a daily it's been great!

Not sure how much difference there is between my '14 Sportline (with sport suspension) and the new 340i with Sport suspension, but I think the non-adaptive is great. Firm enough for spirited driving, but doesn't beat you up at all. I did change to non-run flats though.
The only time I think about it being just a bit too firm is when others are in the car. Still doesn't feel too firm to me, but looks like they may be a tad uncomfortable occasionally. Maybe its the way I drive. Anyway, I'm in the car by myself 80% of the time. |

In my situation, I got adaptive so I have option to go soft when passengers complain about the harsh ride. Some people are used to the Lexus kind of ride. I use Sport until someone complains.

Agree, I can barely tell the difference whether it was the F30 or current F22. Honestly, I would go passive suspension if I could do the F30 again. Might as well save the money.

Also if you are Xdrive today you may want to give adaptive a shot in case you find the firm ride bothersome at times. The different is really great on the 340i. Coming from an E92 335is the 340i adaptive suspension is one of my favorite options. Very firm and well damped in sport but smooth and compliant in comfort.
