Final Spec

OK after a lot of debating i have decided on my final spec

F30 330d MSport

Hexagon aluminium trim with black high gloss finish
Bi-Xenon headlights
Headlight wash system
Herman Kardon Audio
Full black panel display
Metallic - Estoril Blue
Dakota leather - Black

I know the list of options could go on and on but i have to draw the line somewhere.

Have I made a school boy error anywhere?

Cheers

So did you just ignore us all telling you to go for the Visibility Pack rather than just Xenons? It really is worth the small extra. Have you seen the video of them at work?

If you dropped the HK you could squeeze in the Vis Pack and Adaptive Suspension, a much better combination than HK and Xenons only.

Why are you even asking us for our opinion then if you have no intention of listening to any advice?

Tough one that. I'd go with HIFI and Vis Pack over HK but if you can't do that then Vis Pack and base stereo. I would suggest you try and have a listen of both systems though.

I would suggest you first spec the (1) Adaptive Suspension*, (2) Visibility Pack and (3) VSS. Then spec (4) HK, (5) folding/heated door mirrors and (6) heated front seats. For me it is a toss-up between VSS and HK, though the latter is more pricey.

*The most important option IMO.

I'd go (1) Vis Pack, (2) HK or HIFI (3) Pro Nav (4) Heated Seats (5) Adaptive (6) VSS just shows we are all different.

I'll re-do my list for the OP:
(1) Adaptive Suspension
(2) Visibility Pack
(3) HK
(4) Heated Front Seats
(5) Folding/Heated Door Mirrors
(6) VSS

I've not included Pro Nav as this is out of reach for the OP

Most of those are out of reach from what he said! The question is HK or Vis Pack over Xenons.

Vis Pack it has to be.

@RichardM: Do you have VSS? I don't, but wish I had specced it.

No I don't but the car I test drove did and I'm very happy with mine in comparison.

I could live without adaptive too quite happily, but not HK or Vis Pack

Everyone has their own opinion. Stating the obvious now, but we all bought BMW because we want the driving and handling.

So off the bat I would choose the options that make the biggest difference to the handling and ride.

My own thoughts on the options I have or are being mentioned here;

Vis Pack is really good. Really really good.

HK audio, great, but I could live without it.

Adaptive suspension, cant say because I haven't driven a car without it. But General consensus is that it's a must. This fits into the contributes a lot to 'ride and handling.'

Full black panel display, although I have it, I don't think it's great tbh. Yeah looks better, but doesn't actually do much more?

Heated seats. Must for me, I've sat in the car first thing when it's been freezing, horrible if I had to endure that for longer. Depends what you have to sacrifice for it.

Might be going off topic here, but what kind of discount have you worked on? If you can spec the ones you want, negotiate hard and you may well be surprised and get more of the things you wanted.

Love my Adaptive Suspender. Now I'm using it in 'Sport' most of the time.

Crazy suggestion but does it *need* to be a 330d? How about a 320d which seem to get good reviews on this forum and then put the saved money towards more options??

Very true....worth a serious thought....otherwise imo xenons and Hk offer the best compromise with your budget just like your are proposing if you cannot stretch to the extra outlay of the vis pack. The xenons offer great night vis anyway (minus the fancy movement). Enjoy the benefit of the xenons whilst also appreciating the cracking Hk system! But everyone's taste I different which I appreciate.

If it were my money the 330d would be chosen over the 320d without question.

From driving the 330d demo vehicle I had to my own 320d collected this week, its like two completely different cars. The 320d is competent but very average performance wise and you can't make the same effortless quick progress.

Next up its the Xenon's/Visibility pack as they look fantastic and perform superbly.
