328i Xdrive Gas Mileage Thread
Hi Folks,
Just thought I'd start a thread to track how people are getting along with their 328 xdrive fuel consumption numbers. I've only had the car for 4 days now and still breaking the engine and transmission in - driving in Ecopro mode for most of the time, and probably a 50/50 city to highway driving. I'm currently getting 13.1 L/100km with 300km put on the odometer. I suspect that number will go down a bit as I drive the car more. How are you guys doing? |

WOW that's high!
I'm at 9.4L/100km (indicated) currently, with about 750kms of mixed highway and city. I may be biased a bit more highway, actually. Call it 60/40 highway. I only used Eco pro for about 20 seconds, just to see what it would do. I'm about 80% sport, 20% comfort. |

Well...my car is 3 days old so the avg litres/100km is probably gonna be a bit high. I'm hoping it will go down. But on the other hand, Toronto traffic is horrendous...especially with the grey cup stuff going down.

That guy is a girl!
I'm up to 850 km's, with the dash still showing 9.4. I have no idea how accurate that is, but it seems relatively close. I was over 600km when I first filled up, and I think it showed about a 60km range remaining. So with a 60 litre tank, that's reasonably close, even factoring in some inaccuracies. But I haven't really been paying much attention at this stage. I haven't been blasting it at all - I'm trying to do a break-in as per the manual, so I've been more gentle on the throttle, under 4500 rpm, etc. Very boring... I am still heavier on highway use though. Most of my commute is smooth-sailing at 120 km/hr. |

Just finished my first tank of gas.
Officially, down to 12.5 L/100km. Drove 450km and the first fuel warning ding came on and disappeared. I figure I have another 30-50 km before I actually have to fill up and the fuel light stays on. FTR, I'm mainly in city driving with short stints on the highway. But in reality, it doesn't matter because in this city (Toronto), it's all stop and go traffic regardless of city vs. highway. Mostly drove in ECO Pro mode with short stints in comfort. I figure if it's doing 450km on the first tank of gas, it's gotta get better as the engine breaks-in. |

No worries - I was just bugging you!
There's no pic or pink ribbon or any other such gizmo that would have led you to the proper conclusion. On a car forum, I have found it to be not always an asset to be identified as female. Ones opinions tend to have far less weight... |

I'm a bit above 9 (9.3) l/100 km after almost 2300km, with an average of 80/20 % city/highway but mostly in Eco mode. The book says not to rev the car above 4k RPMs in the first 2000km, so Eco mode seemed the safest way to achieve that.
The highway driving is a bliss in this car, I'm averaging 6-7l/100 km at 130 km/h. Now that the temperatures have dropped, I expect to go higher, but over the summer, the consumption should be below 9 (if I keep the same driving style...). Make sure to put only Premium gas in it and you will get around 520 km/tank in winter (mostly city driving). |

I am at about 6500k and am get about 9.0 l/100km on the way to work in the morning and 8.0 l/100 km on the way home in the afternoon.
My driving is 60/40 hwy/city with the morning being more 'stop and go' on the hwy (thank goodness for active cruise!!!) than the afternoon. I am in comfort mode 90% of the time and am running 91 octane. |

Just for comparison purposes I thought I would throw in the gas mileage I am getting on my 2013 335xdrive. Driving about 90% eco/5% comfort/ 5% sport and 50% hightway and 50% city I am getting about 11 litres per 100/km after 2,000 km. If I am crusing at 100 km/hr on the highway I get about 8.5 litres per 100 km.

Only had my car a few weeks now but I'm averaging 10.9L/100km (21.5 mpg) with winter tires so far. Definitely an improvement over my old E90 which averaged close to 13.0L/100km (18 mpg) on winter tires. About 70% city 30% highway.
