Audio Upgrade Booked
After a long and painful experience getting new door trims with tweeter enclosures, I'm finally ready to get my base stereo upgraded. Booked it in today for early October install.
Will be getting the following: Focal IFBMW-S_4 fronts and tweeters Audison AP 8.9 bit Prima amplifier Sound deadening on front doors Not replacing rear speakers or under seat subs at this stage but will get them to wire up the existing ones to the amp as part of the install. Pretty excited to get this done. Sound from base stereo is woeful to say the least. |

Very interested to hear the result.
Had Focal K2 Power 100KRS installed on e90, replaced OEM speakers. Sound quality was superb!

Dropped the car in this morning and get it back tomorrow afternoon. Really looking forward to the drive home to test it all out. Will post my thoughts once I've given it a bit of a test and played around with a few sources/songs.

I picked the car up this afternoon and did the long drive home. Gave me a great opportunity to test it with a lot of different tracks across CD, media collection and Bluetooth streaming.
All I can say is WOW! I'd been getting cold feet a bit leading up to it. Started to really question did I need to spend that much money on an audio upgrade. Was the base stereo really that bad. Well that question has been well and truly put to bed now. The sound is absolutely amazing. I'm a layman so I won't carry on about mid ranges and what not. Ill just say the difference has blown me away and the sound is so crisp and clear now. It really is everything I hoped for. Now for the one issue I've picked up so far. The unfortunate side effect is that the ASD is now being amplified as well. To me it sounds ridiculous. Like I'm trying to fake an M3 on the inside or something. Think I might have to ask Knightsaber nicely if he can drop that down a bit at the next coding meet. |

I'm sure I can do it but I'm really nervous about doing it for the first time without any kind of knowledge or someone with at least a little experience on hand. It's not the sort of thing you want to screw up... I have all the necessary bits - cable, software, data files etc. Waiting on my new Surface PC to install the software. I get that some time this week. |
