Pro Media & Galaxy S4
Has anyone got the new Samsung Galaxy S4 and how is it working with the Pro Media package ?
I've had a look at the compatability chart on the BMW website but if you don't know what half the stuff does it's not much help ! It's time for an upgrade on my Iphone 4 and i'm thinking of moving to the S4 rather than having an Iphone 5. No fanboy type stuff just some facts and experiences please |

Will know soon when my S4 turns up, but I can tell you the S3 works fine if that helps any... so expect S4 to be fine.

My S4 arrived on Friday and I've paired it with the motor. All that's come up on the tick box screen is Phone and Audio.
All the usual functions work fine but not sure if anything else is going to work (texts emails) I have the office box ticked in the bluetooth but it's made no additions over my S2. Anything specific you were looking at?

Both features would require overriding the bluetooth stack in the latest, native Android (which Samsung has been known to do in previous devices) |

I read a press release stating that BMW was working towards integration with Android. Specifically, they are working with Samsung to develop the kind of integration they have with Apple products. Hope the updates are released fairly soon.
But to answer your question, I believe that Bluetooth, text and emails are fully functional. What you're missing is social media (Twitter, Facebook) and Apps like Pandora. |

On a related note, does the S4 (or any of the newer Android devices) support USB audio with the F30 media? By that I mean, USb streaming (like iOS) or just it act like a USB stick (and therefore doesn't support gapless audio)?
I had a GS3 at one point but had no end of issues trying to get it to play with my lexus IS - audio quality over bluetooth was terrible, the media profile would drop if I got a call and would not reconnect until I paired it again, and you had to treat the GS3 as a dumb USB storage device to get the IS to read the music files. As music (particularly gapless audio support) was important to me, I was left with the choice of ditching the GS3 or just keeping an iPod in under the arm rest. I ended up ditching the S3 (which I didn't like anyway for other reasons) and went back to an iPhone 4S. However, I'd be interested in returning to Android at some point in the future as some of the current handsets look quite decent (Experia Z/HTC One). |

I've solved my problem by not upgrading my phone and now i pay only £13 per month for my phone package as a opposed to £35. :-)
It looks as though the BMW / Apple integration works well so I'll probably wait and see if the Iphone 6 is launched later this year as rumoured Thanks for your help. |
