I installed the amp in my car (F22 M235xi with the hk option) last weekend and have been enjoying the improvements in the sound system ever sonce. However, several times I've had multiple problems making or receiving phone calls, with no sound coming from the car. The navigation system voice prompts have also disappeared a few times.
Digging through the manual for the amp, it appears that there is a "Power Saver Mode" which is enabled by default. If no output signal is seen for 60 seconds, the output side of the amp is turned off. While it comes back effectively immediately if the radio / entertainment level is raised, the phone and navigation outputs do not appear to turn the amp back on. As such, I would highly recommend that the "Power Save" be disabled. To do this, use the following steps:
The F30 and other series may not behave the same as the F22 (which has the redheaded stepchild of standard BMW sound systems). If you want to test it on a different model, press the mute button for the radio, wait 2 minutes, and try to make a call. If you can hear the other end of the call, there's no need to make any changes. If you can't, then you should consider disabling Power Save.

Would this result in the amp being on all the time - ie even with the ignition off? |

In addition, "Power Saver" is just for the output section of the amp. It still draws 250ma even if it's in that mode, so if it was staying on all the time, it would still be eating batteries.

I emailed BimmerTech and they sent me a tuning file for the F22. I installed it today (1/20/16 - a week after initial amp install) and I'll see how I like it. I've attached a copy of the file at the end of the first post in the F22 installation DIY (http://www.2addicts.com/forums/showt...2#post19267892). The only change I made to this is disabling the Power Save mode as noted above. The files is named "F22 HIFI (1) no PSM.afp.pdf" as I don't know another way to attach it. Download the file and then rename it by removing the '.pdf' from the file name. It can then be uploaded to the amp.
