Tire and dent

I'm getting close to signing my 340i paperwork and they are quoting tire wheel and dent insurance at $2600, or 71/ month. Good deal?

Is there an insurance company that will insure directly with me? I called my insurance company, Geico, and they do not have this coverage.

This insurance is only good if you royally **** up your wheel, but even then, insurance will cover you in these situations, requiring you to pay the $300 or $500 deductible only (or maybe not at all, depending on coverage/circumstances).

As with everything BMW offers, they wouldn't do so unless they could make a quick buck off of it. I would avoid this option unless you find yourself accident prone.

The dent insurance is new news to me.

"Dent coverage" is just collision or comprehensive. If you have damage to your car, you can just make a claim under your insurance and pay your deductible.

Maybe I miss termed it (or I'm using a Texas term). It's referring to paint less dent repair.

I currently have it in my '12 328i and I've replaced six tires and three rims, so I think the insurance is worth it. I'm just wondering if I can get it cheaper. Those run flats pop on me easily on our highways.

My deductible is $50 for a unfixable flat or dented wheel. Free for paintless dent repair

Either you have 19" or 20" wheels or there's something wrong with your driving.

I'm in the Northeast (Maryland to NYC) and I've driven 30k+ miles since taking delivery of my 335i M Sport with 18" 400M and Bridgestone S001 RFT tires in July 2014.

No issues so far and I've put many miles on my car in possibly the worst area for potholes.

Wait, what? Your vehicle can't be older than 4 years old, and you've gone through that many wheels?

Must be some bad roads you have!

It's a good deal for me since I commute in Manhattan and North Jersey. The roads are garbage from about December/January until some time in May. It paid off for my pervious E90. I got it for my F31, but luckily haven't had to use it yet. If you drive on good roads and not a whole lot of traffic, you could easily skip it. Not sure about the dent part specifically.

Not where you live. It's a concern in pothole country. A new tire is $200, which includes two years of road hazard insurance. A reconditioned rim is about the same.

In a different post, I asked if my flat frequency was excessive, which most said it seemed I was...and since then, I popped another tire. Idk. I've also taken out three rims. In my defense - in the 30 years I've been driving, I never had a flat till I got my current, and first, BMW.

Heck - I might just take the $71/ month and put it into a HSA for my car...too bad I can't get the tax benefits.

I've called all over, and I can't find an insurance company that will sell me the warranty directly.

I would go with the wheel and tire and skip the dent insurance. The wheel and tire is around 1200 but you can negotiate down to around 800. I believe you can also negotiate the $50 deductible down to $0. $2600 for both sounds pretty steep......

i got dent insurance prior, but never used it since their body shop is only open 9-4 M-F. and no loaner cars, making it terrible inconvenient to drop it off and get another car. you would need to have a lot of dents to make it worth the inconvenience.

Where have you been driving that car? The minefields of Afghanistan?

I'm located in the Dallas Fort Worth area. The ice storms this year coupled with several years of serious highway construction have taken their fury out on my tires and rims.

My GF laughs, teases, and tells me to be careful on the smallest road defect for fear that I'll get another flat. Shoot, one time I don't know why my tire went flat...sensor went off, I walked around my car, and sure enough, dat a flat tire.

I have a production number, but it hasn't started yet. My CA is being super cool and letting me wait for July residuals before putting any money down - and they have promised to use August residual if it is better. So I'll probably sign some papers and put money down on Wednesday.

I took it on my 20" wheels. Pot holes are wheel and runflat killers.
I mostly do city driving and had to change a total of 6 tires and 4 rims in the last 3 years.

At the dealership, they had 2 options:
1 from BMW and 1 from another company (at half the price).
Other company only covered 4 tire incidents and 4 wheel incidents.
So if you bust a 5th tire, you're out of luck.
