Everybody remember. BMW did not ask for Hurricane Sandy for sure. It's a great company, but there are things even they can't control. Be patient and be glad we have a company that usually goes above and beyond if they can. Most of all, be glad we made it through this mess. There are at least 43 who didn't......

I guarantee BMW will take care of everyone. They always do. I don't think anyone (myself included) anticipated that the storm surge would be so significant. I have a very uneasy feeling that the death toll is going to sky rocket as authorities continue their search. I think it topped 80 souls today. |

BMW will do what's right and within reason. There are likely hundreds of customers affected with custom ordered cars that may be a total loss. BMW needs to work with dealers to see what they can reasonably do to accommodate customers. At the end of the day this was an act of g-d and not something BMW could control. Anything they do to accommodate inconvenienced customers, while they await a re-order, is a huge plus for them. Any customer in a BMWFS lease has/had the option to extend their lease month to month until their new car arrived. BMWFS is very flexible when a customer has a new car on order. My wife's last car was ordered less than a month before her lease ended. We extended month to month waiting on car then it arrived with body damage. Dealer tried to fix at their body shop and made it worse. We refused delivery and they ordered a new car. BMWFS was very flexible with us. That lease went month to month for over 5 additional months while we waited. |

Cars are replaceable. If at any point you get upset that you are going to have to wait a few more months to get your car just think of the people that lost their lives, and the hundreds of thousands of people who have had their homes washed away, all of their personal belongings destroyed. Most of those people have gone almost a week so far without power, safe drinking water, even working toilets.
The rest of the area can't even drive their cars because gas is still being rationed, people are waiting 3 hours just to get enough to fill up a gas can to run a generator, assuming they have any cash left. When you look at it that way, a few weeks without a luxury sedan is pretty insignificant.

Interesting.
Spoke to Port Jersey BMW VDC Thursday morning, and they said that no BMW vehicles at this facility were damaged during hurricane Sandy. They lost power but it's been restored. And so they are starting to release the vehicles for transport to the local dealerships. |

I recd an email from my CA at the dealer that no cars were damaged as well. Appears they recd power only yesterday. I am worried if the cars were indeed flooded?

Flooding is the worst damage ever. If cars are flooded with seawater they right them off and send to the shredder. Maybe a couple slip off to Albania but who knows...

still waiting - reached port on 10/25 - sandy delay?
I am still awaiting news for my 335i. Dealer first said weekend after sandy, then said car was at baltimaore and was trying to get my car "situated". Now no clue still waiting for word from VPC.
Is BMW still clueless, and cant provide ETA? Sounds like they are over hyped in terms of service. Think Lexus handles such things better. Increasingly frustated. Anyone hear anything - esp if you were on Porgy and landed on NJ port 10/25? |

Still waiting on 135
My car was supposed to hit U.S. soil on 11/15 in New Jersey port, post-Sandy, traveling on the Don Juan.
Port was closed so dealer told me it was going to Baltimore. Then Baltimore apparently backed up so Don Juan left the car in NJ 11/15 after the port reopened 11/12. Dealer said it should only be a few days after 11/15 that car would arrive but he couldn't track it. I got impatient w no info so called trucking company on 11/21 and they hadn't even received car yet. Dealer then told me BMW started work order 11/21 (windshield sustained a ding in Munich) and then should arrive 11/24. Still no car. Dealer doesn't know where it is and says he's "not allowed" to call trucking company (and I lost number. In course of trying to find it, I found a forum where their drivers talk about company being great to work for and letting them take rigs home even loaded w expensive cars. So is my car sitting on a parked truck somewhere while a truck driver takes a few days break from the road?) I can't believe it's taking as long to get from NJ to MD as it took to get from Munich to NJ. |

UPDATE on 135
UPDATE: After posting this, dealer emailed that car was released from port last night so should be in today. They want time to detail etc. so I can go get it tomorrow. Finally!
Still not sure I buy all that "we can't track" business. |
