If this is based on a sample of 1 (NISFAN) I don't think it can be relied upon.

Agreed and in my case that goes for the driver as well (weight, not the leather seat). Anyone else STILL trying to shed the Christmas pounds?

It will if you try to drive it like a track car. But use the track day to learn about the car and about how to drive it and it will still be good fun!

You just need to keep it to a few laps at a time and then back in, because otherwise you will cook the brakes so easily. If you can resist going for max acceleration on every straight then helps keep the temps down in the engine and the brakes! The issue is on the corners, as these are what it's all about and great fun, and as you get faster then the wear on you tyres will go up for sure!

I tried to ignore this but can't...

Yes, from Christmas 2010.

Novice or road car only might be best option

I've done Bedford a few times, and also Snetterton, but not Brands Hatch!

http://www.javelintrackdays.co.uk/trackday/

Goodwood for £169 is tempting!

Would really like to try Anglesey though, and whilst a long way away for most, there is no end of great roads to drive through Wales to get there.

I am seriously up for a track day, so if someone else from the forum is up for it then great. It will be Z4 for me though!

Totally agree about Anglesey, love the A5 and some of the other roads sweeping up to Anglesey.

Just got brake fade and long pedal on a very hard drive home through some country lanes (5 mins of pushing hard), wet roads so the braking distances and pedal pressure were not close to the limits of capability by any means, I dont think it will last 2 laps of a circuit.

Has anybody tracked their F30 yet, how did the brakes hold up?

I have m sport brakes btw, which were absolutely cooking and smelling when i stopped.

I haven't tried it on a track and in 1 month of driving on the road really haven't had any chance to use the brakes that hard. However, I must admit that I would be surprised to hear that you've cooked the brakes driving round country lanes in the UK, in the wet in winter, in 5 minutes. Where was this? Not mountainous terrain I presume?

The brakes on pretty much any German car are designed to be able to manage the heat from 3+ stops from in excess of 100mph in quick succession, as this is likely potential usage on the autobahn. The quicker the car is capable of accelerating then the more it is expected to be able to handle these heat loads. This would generate more heat energy to be managed than the braking required on country lanes, one would have thought, so a bit of a concern then to hear what you say. I've taken the Z4 on track and the brakes held up pretty well, and it's not a light car.. brakes much the same as on a 3 series too.

I have owned two F30 330d's. This dyno plot is from the second one. I've also driven two other F30 330d's a 530d and a new 730d.

Although non of these have been dyno'd, my butt dyno confirms that the one dyno'd is typical, not in any way an extra strong example. In fact I'd say that my first F30 330d was stronger. I put this down to the newer one being Euro6 compliant vs Eu5 for the first one.

If you are questioning the dyno, both mine and gtsussex (335d) were tested on the same dyno. This dyno was calibrated recently, and is used as an overflow dyno for a BTCC racing team. The owner says it is within 1hp of the readings shown on the BTCC racing teams own dyno.

I have no doubts that the numbers are typical and correct.

I'm going to save those as bookmarks....

Not the time of year for me as I have the entire family's birthdays over the next 4-6 weeks and I'd like to take the car out in summer ideally.

Anglesey does look good, maybe we need to start a new thread to make a mid-term plan to do this - what do you think?

Yeah, aiming for spring time might be a good idea. Has there been a F30post UK meet before?

Someone talked about a meet at Lakeside but I understand the security guys move you on! Certainly not seen anything else on my time here (July '13).

I think a track meet is much better, even for those who don't want to go on track.

I think a 330d could be quicker than my 335d.

Then what we need is another 330d and 335d to go for a run on it so we can prove(ish) the theory.

Any takers ?

A problem is you need a 4wd dyno for a 335 & these are not so common.

I'd take mine for dyno, depending on what costs we are looking at?

This would be brilliant

......and not just 330/335d, but would be good to get a 330d xDrive on there to exactly compare same drivetrain, plus 320d, 328i and 335i. We'd have the most informative collection of F3x power data in the world.

RGS has a 4wd dyno based in Wellingborough Northamptonshire.

I'm in Herts so Wellingborough is not too far away. So perhaps we have a forum meet to get the dyno testing done!

Did not know where to post this, so thought this would be the best thread as it mentions the fabulous 330d sDrive.

Unbeknown to me, I've been driving my stead in Sport Mode for the last week or two and did not feel the ride was hard! Car felt fabulous.

Now I am back in Comfort Mode and it feels even more sublime!

Funny, when you don't know, you don't feel there is a change!!!

There was that Scottish group that dyno'd 2x 330d and 1 335d. I'll try and find the thread.

From what I remember:

330d S drive = 259bhp/410lb/ft

330d X drive = 264bhp/414lb/ft

335d X drive = 308bhp/457lb/ft
