Have to agree with you there. It looks like something one'd carve into a Halloween pumpkin.
That said, even if they don't, were I in the market, I'd likely buy it if it's still the best driving regular car one can ge.

If this is what the sedans going to look like, the coupe is going to be insane!
I believe they will differentiate the coupe and sedan more on this model like they did on the E9x

Kind of looks like a shrunk down 5 series. The big air intake looks a bit strange. I think it could benefit from being divided into three openings.

That looks like Lago Di Garda, Italy in the background. Looks agressive but the open air dam like that makes me wonder how stable it will be......
