Thoughts on the BMW 4 Series?

I'm thinking about Pre-ordering once it goes live. Is it wise to buy something completely new like this, or is it better to wait? I'm hoping it becomes a product.

It's not completely new. The drivetrain is dating back 2+ years now and most components are from the F30.

I think there are pros and cons to your question. I preordered the F30 so I could get one as soon as they hit the road. I loved having the new refreshed 3 when no one else did.

The downside was that I had to get a sedan and I was advised never to get a new model the first year. For example, when the 2013 F30 came out some of the options from the 2012 became standard such as automatic seats, I have rusty seat frames, etc. BMW makes changes as they go so I guess it's smarter to let the kinks play out after the first year.

Luckily, the 4 series contains a lot of F30 components. Therefore, I think it would be safe to preorder. For me, I really miss having a coupe so I'm definitely getting one as soon as they arrive this Fall.

Production on the coupe begins in July and convertible in November.

That means you can expect coupes to begin delivery in late August - September.

Depends if you are buying or leasing. If you are leasing, then it doesn't matter. If you are buying, I would stay away from 1st year, especially BMW.
