According to the 2017 4-series order guide 4 individual colors are available:

Priority 1
X02 (Ind) Citrin Black Metallic
X08 (Ind) Champagne Quartz Metallic
X10 (Ind) Tanzanite Blue Metallic
X11 (Ind) Frozen Bronze Metall

No Frozen White unfortunately. No San Marino Blue - however not surprising. One forum member successfully ordered F80 M3 with San Marino Blue. Perhaps BMW is more flexible with M series orders.

Any prior experience successfully ordering a different individual color?

Pretty straightforward. Have your SA contact the BMW NA rep who deals with special orders. You should have the color code so that makes things go more smoothly but it’s not an absolute necessity. He will likely need to fill out the special order request form but that's also not that hard.

Special order paint is a lot easier than special order interior.

So you are saying the 440 is coming to the US in 17? My CA told me they had not clue because that is what I will be ordering later this year a 440 GC if available.

I can't remember if we've spotted official MY2017 order guides, but I believe the answer is, yes, US getting 440 this year.

The color choices for the 3/4 series is horrible. I want to see more choices for grey.. currently BMW only offers mineral grey, which myself and others find too blue/purple. Audi/Porsche has the best grey.. Daytona, lava grey, and volcano grey.

I don't know if this applies for Individual paints, but any Individual interiors that aren't on the ordering/pricing guide are $1250 and a 2 to 4 week delay over the ones listed on the ordering/pricing guide
