I'm always in eco on the interstate and one time I noticed I was getting 42mpg. I then realized it was the average from the last time it was reset. But Im still in the mid 30's

Yes, with the 335i 6MT. I drive the same way with my M3 and average 15mpg.

if you are getting that many kms out of your gas tank assuming its 15 gallons your average is around 23 mpg not 18, unless your math is off

Wow, took u so long to figure that out!

I'm hitting less than 18mpg now and roughly around 400-450kms...

Do the math and let me know if I'm off again...

Yup, I get anywhere between 370-450 on a tank, depending on winter/summer fuel, tires I'm on (winter tires obviously worse), and whether I'm driving like an a$$hole or not.

My 335xi exceeds BMW's mileage. I've seen numbers in 35-38mpg on highway. I used to get about 38-42mpg on my Civic! I will gladly accept 35-38mpg based on the 335xi size/weight/power.

Also, I used to have a '07 CLS 63, and that is rated for 12city/18highway. I generally averaged 22-24mpg for a 4200+lb car with 507hp.

Exactly... I had F30 for one week and i refuse drive that thing in ECO mode. If you want fuel economy then buy a Prius.

but with those mpg numbers it tells me that you are not using the power at all, i have never gotten more than 25 mpg, actually that number only happen twice, all othr times under 22 mpg closer to 18-20 mpg

Easily. Although, I see you have the 6MT. With my 8AT, I can usually get around 400 miles on a tank with 80% city driving. On the highway, even with cruise set to 78mph, I usually can get a shade over 500 miles, depending on how low I want to let the tank get.

That said, I'll have to test out now bad my larger wheels and stickier tires will hurt mpg. Even though they're lighter, I think those Michelin PSS are hurting mpg in my limited driving since I got them.

To note, I never use Eco Pro. Comfort or Sport+

23mpg here. 80% city in comfort, 15% hway with enthusiastic driving and 0-60 sprints whenever I can do so, 5% highway crusing. When I drove the car from Delaware to NJ when it was brand new, I got about 32mpg so I am sure now its getting over 32mpg hway.

Yeah, you don't really need all the power on the highway. I mostly just set it to 75mph cruise, and occasionally use the power to pass people. I just don't see the point of keeping the car in Sport/Sport+ on the highway.

Trust me, if I have no problem setting it to Sport/Sport+ when/if I want to have fun. I am coming from a car with more power, so I'm accustomed to it. The main purpose of buying this car is to be more practical while having something fun at the same time. If I wanted a car with superior fuel economy, I would have bought a diesel...

Nice thread revival. The single most significant factor in economy is throttle input. The "modes" numb throttle response at varying degrees which by default will improve your economy. But there's no reason that you can't achieve the exact same results with your very own foot. SMOOTH acceleration is key, be it from a standing start to cruising on the highway. Yes, ECO PRO factors in other things like letting the HVAC stray a bit from setpoint, but the bulk of its impact is very benign throttle mapping. It takes exponentially more power to increase your speed than it does to maintain it at a constant. I don't ever bother to use ECO PRO anymore frankly. As mentioned previously, I think ECO PRO simply makes folks more aware of their consumption. BMW has simply made a bit of a game out of it.

For the record, I routinely get 30+ MPG from my 335 on long highway stints using only Sport+ with and without cruise.

I can't use it for an extended period of time, it just puts me to sleep. So, I turn it on/off, open the windows, press all the buttons on the car lol (all when I'm driving alone). Anything to do to stay awake.
