New Jersey VPC - Hurricane Sandy

Anybody's car is at the VPC waiting for redelivery to your dealership?

Mine is at the VPC and scheduled to be shipped out to my dealership on Monday 10/29.

What if the cars at VPC get damaged by the flooding/hurricane?

They'll hopefully replace it...it's under BMW insurance until handed over to you.

Or they'll salvage and resell. But if your specific car is damaged (flood or otherwise) you have rights...

Something to consider when thinking about ED. The new cars in transit belong to BMW. That slightly used one that you first met in Munich is YOURS.

So if I ship my car from Florida to New York on an enclosed carrier and it gets totaled in transit, I'm screwed? Riiight....

Same principle applies for our ED cars, they get repaired or replaced if damaged en route. Same as dealer cars.

My 335 is there too and I'm just as happy to let them babysit during the storm before I take delivery.

VPC cars are parked outside in a big parking lot (similar to a dealership) only it's super sized. Is it under water yet??

I guess there is a lot of worse things to worry about at this moment than the car.

Be safe, everybody.

For starters, I doubt it will flood.

Regarding insurance coverage, ALL cars are covered either undelivered or ED cars. ED includes insurance both during your time in Europe and during the trip.

I doubt very much that ANY cars will be leaving the VPC today or tomorrow.

Also consider flying debris and hail. Good luck to all who have their new ride awaiting delivery from NJ port.

Still curious as to whether anyone's car got drowned. I saw a picture yesterday taken from a NJ/NY shipped car lot and it was flooded with about a foot or two of water.

Just got word today my car was destroyed while @ the VPC in NJ. It was on the WW porgy. Arrived to nj/Ny port on 10/25.
.....but I am happy and very thankful to be able to say all my family and loved ones are safe. That's what is really important.

Wow, sorry to hear that. What is BMW doing to make it up to you (aside from ordering you another car and restarting the 2+ month waiting?)

Even for ED car, if it is damaged beyond repair. It will be replaced by BMW.

While you do own the ED car the point you take possession in Welt. But all of the damage are covered by BMW.

Mine was on the port to be "Trucked" out on Monday to ILL. And now my dealer cannot track/find it. How did you know it was gone? Did BMW or your dealer?

Glad to hear your family is safe.

So far I only spoke to dealer. He is trying to find another car, obvious nothing with a 2-3 month wait like a 335ixdrive msport EBII. I am going to call bmw NA today to see if they can offer me anything under the circumstances. What do you all think I should expect from them or my dealer? I don't have a car right now, my 2009 535ix lease ended in September.

Please let me know what you find out as I am in the same predicament as you are.

I negotiated with my dealer and they gave me a 2012 535 service loaner to drive until everything is resolved.
