Once you connect the aux audio the unit works completely wireless.
I connect the left and rigth audio rca to a converter and then pass a hidden cable to the aux input on the center console. You just need to put sound on aux and then mirror screen with smartview. Any video, spotify or stuff with music will ouput car speakers.

Ahh yeah it is wireless according to the video. My apologies for not viewing it again.

I saw it before you posted it but thought for some reason there was an AUX wire that is needed.

So Nelson are you going to do a demo of pairing and usage with both IOS and Android?

Just read some posts again - looks like the AUX is just connected from mirroring unit to the center console. You would have to select AUX as a source in order to hear whats coming from mirror unit ( which is the phone ).

This means we won't be able to listen to other media while using the screen mirroring ( i.e. no audio mixing )

If the multimedia unit accepts RCA - we can just get a chromecast / some other type of miracast device? What are the advantages of getting the SmartView Device?

I am still waiting on mine to arrive. but from reading in the 2 Series Forum and asking questions there it looks like there are RCA Inputs in the the Multimedia that you connect to the RCA outputs in the Wifi mirroring device. Hence it should all be Wireless to the phone and you would set out I-Drive to AUX in in the media to get sound.

will confirm again after i get my device with rear camera and install.

Doesn't look like Nelson is going to post that demo video.

It would be good if you could do a pairing video with the phone.

I don't think radio would work in combination with this.

and install it.

It you want both mirroring and need audio from another source I don't see a problem. You will get the mirroring screen and choose radio / cd / USB as the audio portion. So you can view google maps for example and listen to your favorite radio channel. If you need the audio from the phone then you would choose audio in idrive from the AUX. Will test these scenarios as soon as I get mine and install it

Hope you will get it soon - this sounds like a good bank for your buck mod - since you can update the phone in the future without worrying about the head unit.

The way SmartView should be connected depends on the car model/spec.
