Could this be the last pic I take of my 3 month old 340i - UPDATED with new car

Could be...

Edit: alst pic was too dark, here's a new edit!

Well, it's been 4 days since I traded my 340i in, and you can probably tell from my signature that I replaced her with a F80 M3. Took a photo last night!

F80 M3 - Long Beach, CA by JMG, on Flickr

Overall, very happy with my trade! I loved the 340i, but the M3 was always my dream car, so I decided life was too short to delay it yet again. It was a fun 3 months with the 340i, but I had to say good-bye!

Why would this be the last photo? Are you getting rid of the 340?

Photo is stunning by the way.

Hopefully the hit you took on the 340i was well worth it. The new m3 looks awesome and is my dream car as well. Congrats to you.

Thanks! Took a big hit, but worth it IMHO.

Good for you. I'm coming up on 3 months in my 340i too and have been thinking more and more about how I maybe should have just gotten the M3 to begin with. I have been playing around with the online configurator a bunch too - cuz, ya know, that's how the itch starts.

Lol that's how I started. Whatever you do don't start looking at local inventory. Then don't start calling them to see the car in person. Then don't start calculating your negative equity on your 340 and then don't calculate the new payment with your negative equity. Then don't go to the dealer after just to check it out after work. And don't ask to hear what the $5K M Performance Exhaust sounds like. Then don't fall in love with it and drive home in a new M3.

That pretty much sums it up. I'm in a lease so I could easily just do swapalease or SwApp. It will be gone relatively quickly since I got a great deal so I'd be more concerned with timing with ordering a new car. The net net us that MY2016 will be the most appealing since it's the last year to keep the maintenance schedule we are already used to. I had my front and back brakes replaced under the maintenance plan on all 3 of my previous M3s so I know I'd use that benefit for sure.

My wife will kill me though. She's been eyeing up a new white X5 m-sport herself and this will undoubtedly cause a riot. Also, I don't think she can stand me wait another 8-10 weeks obsessing over a car coming from across the Atlantic again.

To be honest, one of the reasons I like the 340i is because it's much lower key and I don't really mind leaving it parked at the airport or on the streets. I take it to the mountain to ski and it gets caked in salt and brine and that's no problem. I essentially obsess over it much less. Taking on an M is completely different though - there's no way to not obsess over everything about it. Even on pure looks alone the M3 looks sooooo much nicer.
