General Servicing
Hi all,
I have recently purchased a 2013 328i from a used car yard and it is due for a servicing next month (~33,000km). I got a question regarding servicing. What does the 33,000 servicing involved? I'm guessing oil change will be a standard and what else? Where do you get your servicing from? Do you get your servicing from the dealership where you got the car from as part of the package or other workshops such as Ultratune etc? Does BMR Autowerkes provide servicings? I know that the servicing cost at the dealership is high but is it worth if other workshops provide the same servicing at a reduced price? Have anyone brought their F30 to servicing outside of the dealership in the Sydney area? Thanks for your help! |

Do not take it to a stealership. If you can't do it yourself buy the oil filter cartridge from a dealer/Euro parts place ($22-25) and get 6L (yes, 6L) of 5w-30 synthetic oil from Supercheap. Take said car to ultra tune/any mechanic to do it that charges the least hourly rate. It's fundamentally a basic 15min job on a hoist. You can reset the oil service schedule yourself (YouTube) Unfortunately less scrupulous places see a BMW and will charge you twice for simple stuff.

Every time I have had a service it's always been $1k or just over for the oil change on my previous bmw's. Been thinking of going elsewhere too now that the car is 4 years old and out of the free service period.

Ouch. $1k for a oil change (+ general mechanical checks) is bloody expensive! I guess it would be wise to go to an independent workshop after the free servicing period is over.
