Hey guys so I wound up ordering a diffuser from Europeanautostore on ebay which is arriving this week.

I have no experience with body mods, can I do this myself? Does anyone have detailed (with pics) instructions how to install this? I just leased my car last week and nervous about pulling things apart.

Thanks!

I just ordered mine from the same place. From what I'm reading it just unbolts from the bottom. If you can work a wrench it shouldn't take more than 15 minutes. I'm doing my BMS tips at the same time

Just unbolt the 7 sockets underneath and gently pull the OEM diffuser out. There are some taps holding it together. I used a 10mm socket and 8mm / 5/16" socket.
Putting the ebay diffuser in just reverse what you did. The fitment is not perfect but you should be able to fit it in and bolt everything back together.

Took me 10 minutes I think.
Can you comment on how to actually pull it off once you've removed the bolts? I'm having trouble popping the stock diffuser off.

I would say just apply some force. start from the side. once you pull one tap out you'll get it.

Appreciate it. Should I pull straight out or down and out or any advice there?

For anyone looking for CF, CN Auto Fans has a few at what appear to be good prices. I'll let you know when I can confirm quality. Here's the link to the dual exhaust version

If I remember correctly it should be straight out. If you still have trouble getting it out you can try remove the rear reflectors for better access to the tabs that are holding the diffuser.

installed mine over the weekend. Bought it used from a member on here, its an ebay replica.

Fits ok. Some gap on the sides like others had mentioned.

I couldnt get one of the tabs to the right of the exhaust tips to push in. So if you look real close you notice it. From far away you cant tell at all. For the price, I guess im happy with it. Ill play with it later to see if i can get it to line up better.

Hey guys so I don't know what to think. Does this look right? I feel it doesn't fit well at all, and the screw holes don't line up. I don't know anything about body work and attempted to install this myself. Took about a half hour but this is the best I could do. What do you think? It's from Europeanautostore (on ebay)

Not sure whether to keep it or splurge on the $500 one from BMW. Everyone's been saying this one from this dealer is suppose to fit very well but the holes on the ends don't line up at all for me.

Feedback would be greatly appreciated!!

Fitment is questionable at best. Two of the screws don't line up and the clips don't really clip in. It looks fine from afar but is noticeable up close.

Has anyone had better luck with fitment on a carbon fiber mod? If so, can you share where you bought it?

How is the fitment? I'm debating whether I want to also do the same. It looks fine but I am looking for a more OEM-like fit.

I bought the Advan one off ebay, http://www.ebay.com/itm/171939688766 will be installing over the weekend.

Sounds like the installation is fairly straight forward. From various user posts, it looks like its a combination of some Philips head screws and some threaded bolts. Assuming with some basic tools and moderate amount of skills/dexterity it can be easily done in a home garage. Can someone please confirm the installation process? Does the original piece simply pull away?

Cheers in advance!

4 screws in the sides, 3 in the middle. It's basically pressure fitted from there, just carefully pull it towards you.

Ugh, I tried, tired to get it to fit, but alas no. It appeared to be 1/4-1/2" too short. I would get one side in correctly, (tried each side, thinking the exhaust cut out side might be easier to manipulate) but it would always be about 1/4" too short, at the section where it's supposed to clip into the curved down section, resulting in the opposing side not lining up with the OEM slots.

Returning to Advan, going to buy the OEM BMW one! Unless anyone has an aftermarket one they recommend for the F36 428i GC?
