Hello from a newbie...

Morning everyone,

I just wanted to say a quick hello. I’ve been lurking around the boards for the past month or so as I waited for my car to turn up.

I’m a first-time BMW owner. Had VW’s before now (Mk V GTI, Mk VI Convertible were the last two), but decided it was time to upgrade to something better.

Well, this week he finally arrived. F32 430d xDrive M Sport

Spec =

Alpine White
Coral Red Dakota Leather
19” 442M Alloys
M Sport Plus Package inc. Pro Nav
Adaptive M Sport Suspension
Adaptive LED Headlights
High-beam assist
Head-up Display
Heated Steering wheel
Comfort Access
Folding/dimming ext. mirrors
Advanced Parking Package
Interior Comfort Pack
Lumbar Support

Photos are from dealer pick up. I’ll post some better ones once we get some good weather to show off the paintwork.

So far I love my new car. The split-beam of the High beam assist is amazing and not been flashed once. The LEDs seem much more powerful than the VW Xenon's I had. The head-up display works a treat, even in daylight, and I’m very impressed with the MPG. I’m getting 36.1 driving in slow traffic through central London and low 50’s on the motorway, and that’s just in comfort mode, not Eco-Pro.

My only niggle is the comfort access. I have it set up to initially only open the drivers door, but the passenger door can be unlocked if you put your hand in the passenger door outside handle. However, if you only get in on drivers side and then after driving you need to get into the passenger side you either have to unlock with the central locking button on the dash or the key fob (which is normally in a jacket on the passenger seat). However, I realise this is a really nice problem to have and it’s something I’ll learn to live with quickly.

Anyway, just wanted to say ‘Hi’ and thanks for all the information/entertainment over the last month or so while I waited for my car to turn up (order to delivery was 5 weeks).

Thanks everyone. I'm absolutely loving the car. I've done 850 miles in my first week and not once have I gotten out of the car without a grin on my face.

I've been a little right-foot heavy so the mpg has gone down a bit from my first day or so, but I'm still averaging 40mpg, even with lots of country road and hill driving. Would have gotten mid 20's in my previous cars, so can't complain.
