Disconnecting TMAP Sensor

Hey everyone,

This is a dumb question, but is there a trick to disconnecting the TMAP on the N20/26? Trying to install the AFE scorcher but don't want to break the sensor - I have some bad luck with simple installs (a story for another day). The MAP is easy to see how to get it out, but the TMAP doesn't have the same fastener. Any help is appreciated.

Removing the TMAP is fairly easy. Just press the small tab with your thumb, and use screwdriver to lightly push the other end (closer to the number). If you can send me a picture of your TMAP I can help put some drawing on it for a better understanding of how to use the screwdriver to help. That's not a dumb question, I had this problem too for BMS, but once u get it, it only take less than 5 sec to unplug.

Also helps to press the connectors together then try to pull apart. This helps release the pressure if the locking part of the tabs are touching.

I thought it would, but it's a different sensor. It's the one on the charge pipe. It won't budge.

I see that your car is 2014, and I believe that there is a small cover that requires T10/20 screw (I forgot which one exactly) to be removed in order to access the sensor. If it looks different, then you got the wrong one because I also did the same mistake as you before.

Yea, I removed the cover to access, but I can't get the screw driver to lift the sensor - well I's sure I can but I don't want to break the connector. I'll keep trying, I'm definitely attacking the right one - thanks for the help.

Sorry for the always-late reply, but it should not be that hard. You will hear a very small "click" when you pull with your screwdriver and hold the tab the right way.

What do you mean by pull with the screwdriver. I've been trying lift the part where I put the screw driver. Is that right ?

You should do both pressing the small tab (the one I circled red) and help with the screwdriver from the other end at the same time.

Yep, that is what I have been doing. Are you just lifting up with the screw driver or pushing forward?

I think the point is to make the head unstuck. Since its in there for many months exposed to dirt and stuff, it would stick like a glue and need some help to detach them.

just to for kicks, i tried removing both map and tmap connections. and it was exactly as described, took a couple minutes.

There is a tab in the middle of the connector towards the wires. push this down and hold it down, then using a screwdriver, catch the opposite edge of the connector and push forward with the screwdriver, while at the same time pull the connector with the tab still pushed down away simultaneously. If you feel it is going anywhere. stop for a second, push the small down enough to where you see it move, and gently push with the screwdriver till you a hear a click.

Finally got some time and installed the aFe scorcher. TMAP was a pain but got it off. This was worth the wait, very nice gain. Feels much quicker and more responsive.
