Got it, but your posts don't have a sig, at least not in this thread.

It is a first world problem, but people, especially enthusiasts are very particular about their vehicle that they choose to drive.

I don't think the N55 makes "silly" power at all. Just all depends on what you're used to.

I wish the 335/435 would get bumped to 350 base/400 w/MPPK.

I think its time. 7 years ago BMW was pretty far ahead, now everyone has caught up (on paper).

Looks like they will have at least 425 from what is already being reported.

OP you may not take a depreciation hit. One of the forum members here (DesertBBQ?) posted about selling his 1 yr old F30 with no loss because some dealers like low mileage used cars to sell to people who just can't bring themselves to buy new.

Life is too short to drive a car you think is boring. Good luck

Yes, we do get used to whatever power we have. It's just funny how quickly people's perception of 'slow' changes over the course of 5-10 years.

They're catching up but I wouldn't say "caught up" as far as acceleration is concerned. BMW and Audi underrate their engines, just look at how fast the 335i and S4 are compared to the Q50, IS350, and ATS 3.6L.

The 8 speed certainly helps though. That said, car companies seem comfy at the 300-330 hp range for the time being.

That said, the competition as certainly caught up on the whole driving excitement portion of it all. That's good for all of us though, the more options we have the better.

That's kind of what I meant with "on paper".

Clearly 300hp/300tq is underrated to some extent. Though the F30 has been getting destroyed in most reviews I've seen (both mags and online) the one area they still never lose is the powertrain. Sometimes the 335i will have the lowest posted hp in the group (300 vs 307, 323,333) but reviewers state that its powertrain is clearly superior to all others in the class.

Then they will go on to destroy its handling characteristics and large size.

7 years ago when the N54 was new it was just so far ahead of its competition I think it's time for BMW to raise the stakes again. Obviously some will disagree......

+1. Until you have experienced it you will "think" 200, 240 is plenty. I have gone backwards HP wise twice and regretted it both times.

To anyone recommending mods...modifications don't change the dynamics of a car. Same applies to those saying he should get an M3/4. At the end of the day, it's the same car.

Still, I don't see what the fuss is. You bought the car thinking it was something it's not. No one buys a Boxster then complains it can't haul dirt like their old Silverado. The 435i is an amazing car for what is it...an entry-level luxury touring coupe. It's not fast, it doesn't get your blood boiling, and it's not supposed to provide the "man and machine" connection.

If you want a sports car, buy a sports car.

This car is soft. I am going to probably put it on swapalease this weekend. If I could get 52 for it (paid 59ish with an msrp of 61) I would take it and walk.
Why wouldn't you realize this during the test drive?

What do you think sale value of a car like this is? It has 2600 miles. I'm so mad at myself for getting the car.
You should have gone with the 428i rwd Msport manual, then you'd still be happy

Which is why I proposed 350 with an optional power kit or some sort of upgrade that could be purchased to take it to 400.

The M3/M4 will also have a Competition Package at some point.

Hell, I'd settle for the current MPPK's 335hp to become standard. How easy would 335i 335hp be to advertise? Then they could develop another +35 MPPK for the most performance oriented buyers. My point is that 335i performance has been very static for 7 years now to the point where I'd even call it "stagnant".

I can't imagine not being happy with a 435i, since I am in love with my 428i. I guess the 335is was really an amazing car if the 435i fails to satisfy.

You only live once man, go with what makes you happy. If you take a hit, take it as a life lesson not to be repeated again and it becomes a lesson.

Spoiled? By a 335is?

Last June I was going to pick up a 335is. They stopped taking orders for them though, and I don't buy cars off a dealer lot. I still drove the DTC one however, and my takeaway was no different than the non M-Sport 435i 8AT. Same car.

You act as if you're coming from an Exige or Z06.

Static or stagnant, the N55 is more than fit for purpose. It's a lovely engine, and no-one can say its ability to launch the 335 from standstill to 60 in around 5 seconds is slow. I used to ride litre-class motorcycles that can do the same sprint in half that time, but unless you like driving/riding like a knob on public roads, that ability is largely academic.

Same, went from 507 to 300. I now am looking into getting a sports car (weekend/summer car), and making the 335 a daily driver. 300 hp is great, but it's not fun enough for me. Or I could make the switch from 335 to M3/M4 or the new C63 AMG (or whatever it's going to be called)
