What's the DMV fees for? Is that just for registration etc? If so you're getting raped on those I think. Here in NY licensing fee is 230, registration is $10, dealer charges $252 to have it all done by him, or you can waive those and just go to the DMV yourself for license/registration.
Also what's Aqu? Acquisition fee? If so that's probably a bullshit fee too. Shipping/delivery costs are already rolled into MSRP, and if they claim it's to "acquire it from another dealership" that's bullshit too since trading between dealerships is common practice and shouldn't be charged to you. Finally, Documentation fees are pure dealership profit unless they're paying for a notary or sth for liens etc. You may be able to cut that down/out, but most dealers will insist on that if you negotiated a low sales price so they make some money. |

I don't think Acquisition fees are negotiable - those come from BMWFS (lessee) and are a part of every lease deal. DMW seems very high - here in VA tax/title/fees is $67. Doc fee is different for every dealer but varies from $200-400 - you can try to negotiate that but they will give you a hard time. I have no idea what the luxury tax line item you list is.

http://www.nj.gov/mvc/pdf/Vehicles/luxtaxletter.pdf Here is a breakdown of the NJ DMV fees. http://www.nj.gov/mvc/Vehicle/Fees.htm Please ask your dealership why they are charging over $300 for something that looks like it should only be $90. If they say its because of the work they have to do. Ask then why are you charging me $300 documentation fee?? Aquisition fees are normal on leases. The base fee from bMW is $725. Your sale price is super high too. Check out bmwconfig.com to determine your invoice. You should pay no more the $500 over invoice BEFORE incentives. What transmission are you getting? If automatic make sure you get the Sport Automatic. No premium package? You are paying for the leather already. The few extra $$$ you pay for premium will be a $5 increase on your monthly for a lease and you get nice extras. I would also recommend the Cold Weather package. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the heated steering wheel. Its so nice.... |

I have asked why their fees are high of course andi was told that other dealers are charging similar. The person called two other dealerships in front of me to justify this. Thanks for enlightening me! |

Ask them if they can remove the DMV fee so you can do the title registration yourself.
This way you'll only have to pay the 90 to DMV and save the 200 to BMW. |

Theres no luxury tax on this car especially for a lease, its just padded for additional profit. You can get rid of that.
$90 tax on $299? unless NJ tax rate is 30% then it doesnt add up. This is likely tax for Acquisition fee and doc fee and some of the other charges since your tax rate is only 7%. If you want more information, you can PM me or email me your buyers order and i will analyze the crap out of it for you. You can leave the part with your name and address out if you wish.

They really dont make much if any money on this, the reason it seems higher is because they have to charge you for the temp and they use a titling agency to register the car as opposed to sending someone down to the DMV. NJ dealer do not have plates, have to use titling agency. I think the confusion is that you are in NY, where the law allows dealers to act as their own private service bureau and have plates on hand there by eliminating need for temp tags, titling agency fees etc. Its also why you pay $250 to register a car in NY @ a NY dealer and $399 to register a car in NJ @ a NJ dealer.

Base price of car just goes up $350 on the MSRP side and $320 on the invoice side. You should ask the dealer to eat the difference but if you dont want to bother it will be only be like a $5/month difference on the lease. Seems like your rates got locked in so you MF and Res wont change. You should get that luxury tax bs taken off, bringing you down to $2094, and your payment of $597. If you want more rounded #s, tell them 2000 and 600 a month.

What dealership in NJ is this? I have had positive experiences at both Circle (Long Branch) and Open Road (Edison) for what it's worth.
I'm also curious if the 500-600 range is really doable with no money down for a 335 M sport car. I expected higher. |
