Just manage to take a chunk out whilst coming out from my car. Garage is tight and it went against this metal bit on my jeans
What do i do now? Where do i get decent touchup paint?

Yes, I have the same colour.
Get a touch up kit then a fine brush from a model shop.
The brush with the kit is too big.
Be carefu only to get paint in the chip.
Leave to dry and repeat as necessary.
I don't think you'll notice it when you've done.😀

That's not too bad at all. Worse things happen at sea. And stop wearing jeans.

Touch up from BMW. That will cover it nicely. Remember to shake the paint for at least 5 minutes before you apply sparingly. Let it dry. Touch up a bit more. It won't be an exact match as it is very difficult to touch up metallic paint.

You should see the chuck a stone took off the edge of my bonnet. It's 100 times worse than your teeny weeny nick (not the Greek!).

BMW sell the kits, but check eBay. You must get a GENUINE kit though.😀

Cocktail stick is a great way to apply very little paint. You will easily sort that one out.

You are meant to. But when I did it made it darker, so I had to remove the whole touch-up job and start again. Therefore, no lacquer for me.

I don't like cocktail sticks as you can control the flow of paint in the way you can with a fine modelling / artists brush.
I bought my touch up kit from my local BMW garage. BMW prices of course, I can't remember exactly how much, but at the end of the day its only a lipstick sized kit you get.
You get clear laquer with the kit, personally I have not used it as its only used for very small nicks, such as yours.
A quick tip. Make sure the paint is warm, I keep the kit in the house. Apply when the ambient temp is reasonably warm.
Shake the paint and when you think you've shaken it enough, shake it some more.

Then you might get your willy jammed in the door. Therefore, not a good idea.

He wants to get out of the car naked and now you ask him to keep shaking it? Have a heart man. The poor guy will be touching himself up for all we know and end up with a blue willy.

This looks genuine but you can check seller ratings to make sure. http://www.amazon.co.uk/BMW-Genuine-...original+paint

That doesn't seem a million miles from what I paid at a BMW garage.
If it was me, I'd be getting it from BMW then I know it is EB II.

I have to say in the few minutes it took me to find the link for the paint, this conversation has taken an interesting turn.

Also, another tip for when you are applying the paint and apologies if this is obvious.
I'm right handed, so when I'm applying touch up I use my left hand as a support / hold my right hand, to give the most stable application of paint.☺

IIRC Halfords only sell spray cans, so no good to you, but perhaps worth a call to them anyway?
No, once the paint has hardened, that's it for life.

No they won't. I don't know if they can mix some. Just wait to get it from BMW.

I felt just the same when I discovered my stone chip. I was gutted. You will get over it in time believe me. Mind you, I am still smarting about mine and it happened 2 weeks ago. Even thought of having the bonnet sprayed!

Your car will pick up many more of these in its sad life on UK roads.

It is going to be a long wait.. Will they be open on monday? Plus is there a way to get it fixed professionaly without re-spray?
