Cheers, it really does look incredible when you see it
I've not stopped grinning or finding excuses to just pop out to the car to have another sneaky look

Colour looks really nice BTW, I'm sure it looks even better in person. How long are you supposed to run the engine in for?

Some great cars you all got there. I remember when I got mine a year ago today.
BTW, looking at the pics of all these M Sports...... is it me or does the front suspension look a little high? Looks higher than my E90. |

I was told that the engine wouldn't need running in, that the car left the factory in a ready to go condition. I still think I'll be a bit cautious with the throttle for a while though just in case. The colour is fantastic. The whole car has more than exceeded my expectations

With regards to running in the engine, I was told the same last year. They said "drive it however you like".
Although he did say during a test drive that they do loosen up a bit after around 8K miles so performance will improve a fraction in time. |

They could all do with being 10mm lower!

With regards to Spor+, both the dealers I test drove with said exactly the same thing but that's because they're pussies and don't want people test driving their cars with the TC turned off. Also, I believe that Sport+ is the only way to truly turn the 8AT into a manual? If you want to use your own gears and shift with teh paddles with no interruption from the computer, I think that's your only option. I honestly don't know why the dealers are all so scared of Sport+, it's not like this is a mid-engined car. It's a front engined, rear driven, well balanced car and so a lack of TC ain't gonna kill you unless you're a foo' that doesn't know how to drive
Don't listen to them jrberry! Go and have a play in Sport+ next time it's wet and findnthe balance point of the steering and throttle at slower speeds. Besides, how else can you do a 40-100 run in 4th gear to feel that engine character unless you're in Sport+?

Nice cars.
Can anyone who's picked up an F30 M Sport without adaptive suspension tell me what the ride is like compared to an E9x M Sport? If you do have adaptive, what's it like in normal sport mode? |

I think tha M Adaptive only has two settings, no? My understanding is that it's the same in comfort/eco pro and the same in Sport/+

I may well just do that, although I will give it a few days of normal driving to get used to the car. The toll booths at the Severn bridge and Sport+ are almost a match made in heaven

I've had a play in Sport+...... I'm pretty sure with regards to throttle sensitivity and power it isn't actually any different to Sport mode? The only thing I've noticed is that it turns off DSC. Of course, mine is just a manual so not sure if it makes any further difference to those with the 8AT. How's everything finding the handling? Went for a more spirited play this morning and the back-end is a little more skittish than I expected; could be a combination of it being wet and the new tyres not quite being scrubbed in yet of course. There does seem to be a bit more body roll than expected and my car doesn't seem to need much encouragement to get the rear a little mobile |

I think my criticism of the body roll is born out of the fact that my last car was an import FD2 Type R which whilst spectacular around Oulton Park, had a suspension hard enough to knock your fillings out! |

I get my car around the 19th October - next 6 weeks are going to kill me but then I'll have a shiny new 330d M Sport on my drive, bring it on!!

The payoff is slightly more body roll, though not enough to worry me, particularly at very low speeds (<15mph or so) where the car rolls about a lot. Try going over speedbumps slowly or down a potholed gravel track, and you'll know what I mean. For me, this bit of extra roll is a small price to pay for being able to drive down a UK road without having to avoid every crack and pothole! I suspect adaptive suspension gets rid of the roll as well whilst preserving the ride, though I haven't driven one to confirm this. Have your cake and eat it for £750.

Mmm, makes me wonder whether I really need adaptive suspension then. I'm used to the ride in my e92 M Sport & it sounds as though it's improved in the F30 M Sport. I'm crossing out one of the options so it's either the suspension or HK.
