No unless you don't want further weight reduction.

M= Money= Marketing aka revenue for BMW AG. Unfortunately, it’s how it’s done these days.
That's what M (and RS, AMG, most Porsches etc etc) have always been if you really break it down. How many people who buy them actually race on tracks... not as many as you'd like to believe

The OP contains everything currently known about the current and future G generation (plus current and future UKL) BMW products.

While it is possible others may yet await, the absence of news about any 6 Series vehicles other than the GT at this point suggests it is unlikely we'll see replacements for the current 6 Series range going by the 6 Series name for the remainder of the G generation. The 8 Series is by-and-large taking over that role. Perhaps in a future generation they will add a new 6 Series coupe, convertible, and Gran Coupe, or perhaps not.

Probably gonna be 2020 or 2021. The M4s end of production is summer 2020.

As I said eight posts above yours:

http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...4&postcount=44

It will most likely be 2021.

Recall that the E90 M3 (and 3 Series) finished out as an MY2011 at the end of 2011 when the F30 began production. The F80 M3 did not arrive for more than two years after, in the first half of 2014 as an MY2015.

The F80 M3 (and F30 3 Series) will similarly finish out as an MY2018 at the end of 2018 when the G20 begins production. The G80 will not arrive for more than two years after, in the first half of 2021 as an MY2022.

The only way this would change is if the G80 M3 were to separate from the G82 M4 completely from an external parts sharing perspective. This would perhaps allow for it to arrive as early as just over a year or so later than the G20, like the F90 M5 soon will compared to the G30 5 Series. However, SCOTT has recently suggested this won’t happen. We shall see, but the timing of the upcoming F97 X3 M release - after both the G01 X3 and the G02 X4, with or very near the F98 X4 M - indeed suggests the co-release trend will continue for sibling M products.

Regarding the past 5/6 release schedules compared to the M5/M6, both generations of which were tiered rather than coming together, bear in mind those were never really sister vehicles stylistically, only in name. The handing over of the 6 to the 8 (and moving it even more up market) this generation only solidifies this fact.

But i think the X6 looks better and is more aerodynamic in shape.

X6 has zero (0) interesting features for the purpose of this thread.

But yes, there's a reason X6 is so much more popular than X5 in places like Eastern Europe, where men prefer cars with as little utility/lb as possible.

Aren't these cars (X5/X6) made for soccer (football) mommies????

X5 - yes. X6 - for immature boys between 20 and 70 years old.

Gentlemen,

So, tomorrow I?m about to put in a build order for a 2018 BMW X5 M Sport. So with the listing of the changes does anyone know when that?s going to happen? I?ll be pissed if they change the body style shortly after I buy an X5. Please let me know!

Edit: Nevermind. I found the release time frame on another thread. Well, that throws a huge monkey wrench into the mix. Not sure what I'm going to do now but I do know I'd rather have the newer design since I'm purchasing the vehicle and not leasing.

My salesman did say that I would get the digital cluster today and the latest in the i-drive if I were to build it. He said that it would take 2 to 4 weeks for my build.

That's totally not what you'll have in G05. Everyone with 6WB and ID6 who are proud today that they have the latest and greatest will feel like losers next summer.

Exactly. That?s why I?ve decided to wait. I don?t want to buy this model knowing that it?s going to be obsolete in just a couple of months.

All things point to the interior to look like the new 5 series and 3 series interiors which I absolutely love.
I?ve been trying to get in touch with my salesman today to ask a few questions about the 2019 instead of building the 2018 like I intended.

Just talked to my salesman and he said they are not shortening production for this current body style for next year. He is saying that the X5 total redesign is going to be in 2020.

Because his goal is to sell you something, anything today. Moreover, BMW does not tell their dealers everything. The information you can find here on this site is always more reliable and comprehensive than any dealer can tell you. The only exception is pricing.

Yeah your right about BMW not saying anything that was apparent today when I talked to my salesman. He said he would have to go find out, but he was adamant that BMW sticks with 7 year body style. I told him I didn't think that was happening this time around.

I have no doubt that he was just trying to make his sale, honestly the average consumer probably doesn't care about the new releases this far out. So for him it would have just been another day in the office.
