Pumping gas when the tank is full?
Does anyone know if pumping gas at the gas station with preset amount still pump gas into the car when the tank is full or would it stop when it reaches full tank no matter what the preset amount is?

it'll stop when the tank is full, and you'll have to go back into the store to receive the change in difference.
one of my job responsibilities is pumping gas into new customers cars...

Thanks for the response, because I had a preset amount and was wondering if it would overload on my car and damage the fuel tank. I heard from my friend's experience that he had an overload with the preset amount of gas and the gas was actually spilling out?

i usually fill up the tank and pre auth $100, of course its always around $70-80 to fill up...
When it stops filling, i always find i can fill about 1-2L of gas on top of it... thats 20 kms of driving |

A properly functioning nozzle will always stop to prevent spillage. If it doesn't it's faulty. This is why most states (in the US anyway) require you to stay with the vehicle while fueling, just in case it doesn't automatically shut off.

Does it automatically shut off when full even using pre-auth filling instead of fill-up?

If there's spillage then it's a faulty nozzle and would be a good idea to let the store clerk know about it.

I reckon some of these sorts of questions must be from aliens who have just beamed down from orbit for the first time and are gathering information before the big invasion. I can't think of any other sensible reason for it.

Could it be that these are folks who have lived / driven exclusively in areas with only full-service gas stations (e.g. New Jersey)?

We don´t have any full-service gas stations here but no way would I EVER let a person, whose job is to fill up tanks all day (wtf!), fill up my tank or do anything in the vicinity of my car! I wouldn´t expect any 5-star service from him, not even 2-stars, guy´s gotta be fed up and bitter so I would never trust him with a metal nozzle anywhere near my car.
Just sayin´
