Absolute rubbish - your dealer's spinning you a yarn! Chandlers had a new M4 on their sale recently to gen public with sticker price at 12% off. I was told discounts for order cars were getting to over 10% already which after talking to various dealers and asking for best price seems to be true.

Not enough for me so will be holding on for a while.

well, that was info from one dealer nearby London, maybe that's the issue. I didn't ask my local dealer as they are poor - as I mentioned before - even refused me to get a test drive as I'm less than one year with my current 3y contract so it would premature to test it

If serious, speak to Riaz or Tony (TRL) & see what they can do for you.

Actually I spoke to Riaz and that was his answer . Times are changing ... on the other hand there are a lot of second hand M3/4 with low mileage and below 50k now, for a fully loaded car.

Interesting. To be fair things may have changed in last 4/5 weeks and perhaps build slots have all but dried up at the moment so no discount needed. Once media coverage has died down and everything that MUST have one has their car, I'm sure the discounts will start again.

As you say, there are a lot of demo/pre-reg M3/4's out there now at low prices and even then some cars are taking a while to shift (blame high int rates on finance I suppose).

I'm in no rush - interested to see if they do anything to the M3 post LCI anyway.

If I was ever turned down for a test drive, I'd never buy or have my car serviced at that garage again.

This, Who is he to judge when you want to trade your car? For all that dealer knows, you could have a pot of gold ready to spend today & bugger the trade in figures!

My dealer frowned when I turned up for the M4 test drive wearing my Sparco boots and gloves.

A friend of mine is a fishing boat owner / skipper.

This was a few years ago, when he was minted lol.

Anyhow, he popped n to a mercedes dealership and asked for a test drive.

The salesman looked at him in his jeans and said, as it was raining, they would not do test drives.

So he went to BMW dealer, had a test drive, can't remmeber what car, but it was circa £50k - £60k.

He then drove to mercedes dealership, walked in and saw the original salesman (Mr it's raining outside), pointed to the BMW and said he was buying that cash when he finished test drive.

I get it a fair bit having a Geordie accent and asking for test drives when was in Cambridge etc, then you mention buying one and they get all sweet and nice.

Well, with no discounts and 6.4%APR it is no go for me. Cheaper to have a loan from my bank (3.9%). Checked the finance on BMW website - it would be around 9k to pay extra over 4 years, not worth IMHO..
On the other hand 1y old 335d dumped from 50k to 30k but some dealers try to sell 1y old M4 7k miles , not so fully loaded for 59k, ridiculous

Completely agree. Seems kind of daft that you'll pay no more over same period buying an M5 (due to 0% and big discount).

I think it will take until at least end of this year/spring next year and then we'll start to see the deals coming.

As said, no hardship waiting. Of course something else may well come along by then that takes my fancy

Lord, this used to happen all the time to me as well...

I remember standing in an Audi garage in the North West a few years ago trying to get a brochure for my brother (that's my explanation and I'm sticking to it, govn'r...)... and the whole staff just ignored me... and even more so when I politely mentioned to the greeter, in my finest Teesside twang, that one of the bone idle salespeople I could see lounging around might actually try and help me with some sales assistance...

(I might not have been so polite, to be honest, but the memory fades..)...

My old man got refused entrance to the BMW stand at the Motor Show in London in the late 60's or early 70's... Flat out refused entrance to the stand...!!!

I was chatting about this sort of malarky with the guys in the place I bought my last non-BMW and they just said that they genuinely had no clue who had the cash and who didn't when people walked in, so they basically all got the same warm welcome... Cars fly out of that place like there's no tomorrow... Hmmm, rocket science anybody..?

Tbh, I got the opposite experience with Audi dealer...after not having any attention for at least 10 minutes, finally I got a very good care of sale person, with quick configuration of a car, test drive, valuation of my old BMW, clear finance and extra packages and discounts. All in one visit on Sat morning. They even didn't want me go without putting a deposit which as they said was fully refundable if I decided not to proceed. BMW dealer was siiting on the other side of the fence- everything was so difficult from the day 1, finance unclear, no advice about options, deals terrible, not transparent order, no test drive etc etc...
Was this partialy due to my foreign accent?
