CA's Saying new iDrive not available in F30 until MY2014

So I just got off the phone with my CA who informed me, after researching the issue, that the F30 335 will not have the iDrive upgrade until MY2014 and that it's only being phased in to the d's, ActiveHybrids and wagons.

Now I'm not sure what to believe.

What I do know is I'm due to order my next car NOW and, while I'd easily extend if the November date was a sure and confirmed thing, I'm not sure I want to wait and extend my lease if it may all just be rumor.

Actually, what would be nice is confirming if even a current (July or later build) Active3 and F31 have the new nav. And has anyone actually received the new Nav or seen it in person in a production vehicle? Verifying those parts of the rumor may give some credence to the F30 November production rumor.

Never trust a horse's clock! Is "autumn" November? It'd be good check out F31 (BMW 3 Series Touring) threads, etc, to see if the new nav debut really happened as scheduled. I've seen nothing confirming the new nav has been released in production vehicles...yet, but this September 2012 Press Release is encouraging that it will happen this year. (Check out PDF linked below article you cited.)

Autumn is November. No F31's delivered yet cos it's set for debut in EU on 22 Sept.
The parts system shows different part numbers for the CIC unit after 11/12.

Meaning new part number not until in December production vehicles? (Autumn could be as late as Dec 20!)

I saw/used it yesterday, in a 2013 535i.

No, changeover during November. That's for the F30.

And how is it? Is it just better looking or is there also improvements to functions?

Well, I only played with it briefly. My '12 has Nav/BMW Apps, so I'm pretty familiar with the functionality of the regular iDrive. The transitions were good, and it definitely seems fast. I didn't use the Maps/Navigation feature at all. I was more interested in the car I was test driving. The screen on the 5-series is bigger than what's in the 3er, so some of the sharpness(?) seemed to be lost.

I'm not sure the average buyer would know or care about the differences. Of course for folks reading this thread, it's probably a smart idea to wait

There is a video around here that shows some of the menu transitions, etc. That will give you the best impression of the new system.

Holy Shnikes Batman!

Ok, so here's the latest in my back & forth Nav upgrade inquisition.

So, up until now, I have heard that the Nav won't be included until MY2014 from both the CA and my friend who works for BMW in NJ.

However, another dealer I had gone to last Thursday (and had no idea of the upgrade) contacted his friend who is an engineer in Munich working on the new i3. He just got back to my CA and informed him that the new nav WILL be included in the November production F30 sedan builds and that it is "worth waiting for".

So there ya have it. Insider confirmation from Munich...in addition to what we've seen on Bimmerpost.

(posting this in another thread as well.)

A clarification these posts should make is when are F30s produced for *North America* getting the new nav. At least that is what I care about...

I would really like to know this information for sure also. I have an order for a 335i, but havent gotten production number yet. so if i find out soon that its true then i'll ask to see if they could push my production date back and wait for it.
