What is the difference between the N55 that comes in the E9X 335is vs. F30 335i?
Basically what the title says. What is the difference between the N55 in the E9X 335is vs the F30 335i? I know the N54 was a twin turbo as opposed to the N55 which is a twin scroll single. Is there a summary of the differences of the various engines?
I'm looking into the various tunes available for the F30 N55 cars and it seems that Hartge and Burger are the only ones out there. I believe Procede will be out shortly and possibly a few others. Is the performance gain going to be the same from either N55 motors? Thanks for educating the newb... |

The auto transmissions are different. Plus now there are multiple modes(Eco, comfort, etc).
Not sure whether these factors affect tunability and achievable power at the wheels |

E92 335is uses the N54. n54>N55 no question about it.
if the E9x wasnt in the last year of the body style i would have bought it for sure. The N54 is just an incredible engine.

This is where I get confused because I thought the 335is, 135, 535's were using the N55 since 2011 or 2010. I'm wondering how different the programming is for those engines vs. ours. I see some tuners have kits for N55's excluding the new F30 N55. What's the difference?
