Can you detail what you did with your mac to do the 'coding' please. We have macs only and haven't put any thought into coding with it. I can take the car to my local indie BMW super specialist for the coding, but perhaps it may not be too hard to give it a go myself. I would say please pm me, but there may be others on this forum who would be eager to know and learn as well, so best to post on this thread if you would be so kind after you come down off the clouds. Cheers.

But check the coding forum as I believe there are cheaper options available now.

Hey jono, very nice ride! Any chance of interior pics? :-)
Did you go with the interior shades in the end? I imagine you cant stop driving at this point :-)

Yes, went for the rear side shades in the end. They are very cool and nicely fitted. Everyone I've shown is really impressed with the shades actually, especially if they have kids. Having said that, the M Sport has a pretty dark factory tint on the rear windows so I'm not too sure how required they are. I'm happy I've got both though -- the sun in NZ is very harsh so it's important to protect our little boy in the back.

I have 614 Internet preparation 615 Extended BMW Online Information 6NF Music interface for Smartphone 6NK Connection, Bluetooth and USB devices As well as 609 (with NBT). Also have DAB which seems to work well. You can hear the difference between DAB and DAB+ stations in Auckland though! DAB is a step back from FM, at least to my ears anyway. DAB+ (presumably at a higher bitrate) is a step up.

This is the first time I've taken note of M Performance gear as I have the impression that it's an aftermarket add on. From your posts on this thread, it seems that you've pre-ordered them through the dealership or am I mistaken? I ordered my 328i M Sport in late Oct and at no point was M Performance parts sighted or discussed. Please enlighten me. Also, how's the updated Pro Nav coming along? I could only see some videos and pics online but it looks darn impressive. Question, does the iDrive knob come with Touch functions? I thought the rumours were that they won't come out till mid 2013 and even then it's only intended for the Chinese market initially. |

Yes, the M Performance is a range offered by BMW. Mine was all supplied, painted and installed by the dealer from new (when I collected the car it was all fitted). The new iDrive is great, very fast and responsive but largely the same as the old iDrive in usage. It does look nicer, that's for sure! The controller is the same as before, I don't think it's due to change for non-Chinese markets until later this year.

So I've learned today that my dealer has just received the car. That's 8 days between arrival at port kembla and deliver to the dealer.
The dealer can't get around to starting on preparations for the car till next Monday and they say it takes 4-5 days which means I'll only pick up around next Friday!! At this stage there is no point to kick up a stink... I would like to have time to advertise my old car & minimise any potential time without a car. Still, it's my first experience on a make to order vehicle and never thought it would take this long! That's nearly 3 weeks!! Then again, my other 2 cars (non custom order already in stock) have for some reason taken 2 weeks. Still.... Anyway, looking forward to owning my first BMW.

You should tell those bozos that it took a lot less than 5 days to build the bloody car. What the heck do they need to do? Take all the plastics off, clean, wax and put the number plates on. Half a day to a day max.
I bought mine in stock on a Sat and picked it up the following Weds. Anyway congrats. The end of wait is in sight. |

In the dealer's defence, they didn't just get slapped with a recent recall on '000s of cars that need their electrical cables replaced. ;-) Yes, the delivery time is below expectations but it kinda fits in with the renos going on at home that are taking a bit longer too. To me... what's a few days since I've waited this long. Sigh.

Nice, you're on the final stretch at last. I'm sure you'd stated this before but when did actually place the order?
Other thing i'm interested in is, how many days between ship arriving in Sydney and clearing customs, then how many days for it to arrive at your dealership? Mine is due in late March/ early April. |
