I totally agree on making sure the 3 series remains a driver's car first and foremost. The chasiss, suspension and powetrain all have to satisfy the innate desire for a sporty drive. It should NEVER become yet another cushy Lexus cruiser.
Also, if BMW absolutely insist on having over-complicated electronics in the car, at least make it more reliable! The E9X, despite a great car driving-wise, has far too many electronic bugs that irritates you to no-end. I will be writing a novel if I list out all the electronic failings in my E90, let's just say I hope the F30 will have much less. One last thing, more diesel options for markets outside the EU area! |

If the car is truly supposed to be unveiled later this year, I'm not convinced that any of these suggestions will make a difference, even if BMW were reading these forums.
That said, BMW, as a NA driver (formerly e90 and currently f10), here's what's important to me (in a midsize BMW sedan): manual transmission x-drive fuel efficiency x-drive combined with MT combined with fuel efficient engines steering and handling (I much preferred the steering/handling of my e90 to my f10. Not so much that I regret the f10 - it's an awesome car - but I dearly hope the steering/handling of the e90 can be preserved.) Anything else I can deal with... |

3 series take
1) I pod adapter kit should be standard in a $50000 car.
2) run flat or spare tire option 3) rwd version needs to get around 34-35 miles per gallon but still be able to run 0 to 60 in 5.0 or better (09 to present are around 4.8). 4) make back seat leg room about 2 inches more. This is for families with growing children. One year the rear seat room is not an issue but 2 years later it is. 5) continue to work with apple and make the I drive more user friendly to new users. I think it is not a bad product all things considered, but it does have a learning curve to be sure. 6) a car alarm that chirps and disables the fuel line upon being locked is not unreasonable to be included on any model in the 3 series line up. BMW would also make it's customers happy because of better insurance rates a result. 7) cold weather package should come with a remote car starter. |

Currently, you cannot pull out lock tab up to unlock the car since it sinks into the door panel. I'm guessing it defeats the purpose to put an unlock button next to the door if someone can just go up to it push a button to unlock.
Having the door opener in the middle console prevents someone to just come up and unlock the door conveniently. So I think it's a safety feature. You know who you are when you drive up next to bums and lock the doors... |

Dipstick, better bass for the upgraded premium sound, and vented seats that aren't in a ridiculous climate package.

335 fixes
Put window up down closer...always putting my back windows down at bank
vented front seats move door locks LDS standard on sport model (it's a sport right) radio goes to lower level default when phone rings....ever hang up your call only to have tunes blast your brains out...(Logic 7 is deadly) Better engine cooling...a amateur like me should not be able to drive it hard enough at track with an instructor in the car to put it in limp mode!! This might help: Ram Air scoop like my old 76 T/A...back in high school ....and a fake mustache

I work as a Doctor, owning a 320 d My11 and the upcoming 3 series-F30 is a much awaited /preferred option for millions of other professionals like myself. People all over the world like the 3 series and expects the next generation 3 series to beat all the pars of competition with the Merc ,jaguar and Audi who are releasing an A3 sedan. I would suggest BMW not to look like a Lancer the shark nose is good but it is all or never situation and a risk which could be disastrous. Bold Blue angel eyes.
Looks of the car do matter ultimately. If this fails, God save the 60% sales section of the BMW Company. Competition is stiff and the look of the BMW can be enhanced with a bigger, bolder and aggressive look. This is something which I like in the X6 and the X5 but lacks in the 7 series –both front and back (as it looks boring). The new 5 series is nice but better looking is the front of the Granturismo 5 series .The rear is exceptional and a very good move by the company to change that ordinary car looks. People perceive the 6 series to be very different but in an odd way. Increase in overall room in the rear should be a focus for BMW 3 series to help families choose a BMW over a Toyota or any other reliable car. Another factor is Leg room, Smooth ride, and most important of all intense noise reduction. As a prestige issue and a major advancement, people prefer rich quieter interiors. The current diesel models across most BMWs are still audible and this makes the journey tiresome. As many around may know an increase in noise exacerbates tiredness. Diesel engines need to be quietened down across BMW. BMW every 10 years come out with a good model. Some are really successful and some fail. Why this is important for the 3 series is because this is a people’s choice car. It is all well and good for getting a 7 series which not many of us could afford. I am not even sure if BMW Company would be reading this but would seriously need to reconsider releasing the car this year in Geneva and rush things. (ULTIMATE FAMILY CAR) Fuel efficiency, Angel Blue corona eyes, BMW 3 series should have options for an aging population looking aggressive and still ride through pot holes with minimal impact for the riding passenger. No McPherson struts as in any other car. IT should be called SSR -Smooth Spine Ride reducing back problems etc. People should be able to drive for 8 hours straight with not wanting to stretch their backs. Cruise control, Navigation , Ipod /Aux,Neon/Blue Corona should be standard . I believe the new car is getting a new gear that looks similar to the 5 series and all above. Which is good but not something to be proud of? A Bmw survey from BMW’s upcoming 3 series which would need more suggestions are required for this. People who will want BMW to proceed as the best car in the world like myself. But until then all the Best, BMW. |

also, def make iDrive and anti-theft standard.
no halogen bulbs. only xenon (or at least give ever model noticeable daytime angel eyes) everybody should see a 3 and say 'that's a sick car' every single time they see one. current 3's blend in too much |

1. Previously mentioned but bears repeating; considering the cost of electronic devices becoming less expensive and make iDrive and navigation standard.
2. Regarding F32; replace the seat-belt feeder arms with the same set-up as the convertible. 3. Lose RFT's-!! 4. No need for the Value Package make leather be standard across the line, leatherette be an option 5. M-Sport Package should include special interior M-Sport interior trim along with sport-seats. |

-No RFTs (for the millionth time in this thread) -Take the AUX/iPod/USB out of the center console. My no. 1 annoyance with this car - I have a cable hanging out of the center console, which I had to slam down to keep it shut over the cable. What were they thinking!!! I have been burning CDs copiously. -Split center armrest (yes I know it can be added DIY) Options I'd like to see: -Ventilated seats -More wheel choices w/ M-sport package -Big panorama moonroof (like the Benz E coupe ... totally sick) -Better quality leather -At the same time, keep leatherette an option. I prefer it. No maintenance, still looks good, etc. -Heated M-sport steering wheel -HUD (would definitely pay $$ for this)
