How to disable GT rear spoiler

Hi,

Anyone have any idea how to disable the rer spoiler? I have a rear hatch Tule bike carrier which I want to see if I can use for the occasion transportation of my nikes. (Yes I do also have the roof top, but with it I cannot go to car wash without removing them...I only therefore instll the roof rack if I think I need it for extended period of time e.g. ski seasons.... camping )

Thanks

I don't know how to prevent the spoiler from rising, however, one thought is to not go above 65 mph since that is the speed the spoiler rises automatically. Not ideal, to be sure.

Another thought, how about having a trailer hitch installed and using a rack off of it?

In my opinion this can be coded; does anyone Know to which module the spoiler is connected?

It can't be coded. The spoiler is required. Above 70mph the rear end causes lift and without the spoiler it will get light. If you don't want it to go up, just stay below 70.

"As the car neared 88 miles per hour, the light of the flux capacitor pulsed faster until it had a steady stream of light". I guess my 3GT won't take off and fly Back to the Future... j/k

My only concern is the spoiler may try to come up in the winter when it was frozen and stuck.

The motors are pretty strong. Mine broke through 2" of ice to come up this year.

what about just installing the rack with the spoiler up, and leave the spoiler up all the time? theres a button on the door for that!

That, and its a pain to get the spring time blossoms and junk out from in there. Not impossible of course, but wheeling a vacuum out of the apartment, or the lack is just annoying.

As for disabling it, what is the clearance that OP need to clear for the rack?

Why leave it up? If the rack will clear it when extended it will clear it when retracted.

My concern was just that when moving, some parts of the spoiler may move into spaces that neither the open or closed position occupies - that there maybe a chance, however slight, that the movement, may cause some form of interference.

That's all.

It's a simple enough thing to check out, since you can extend and retract the spoiler with the touch of a button while standing still.

I believe it can be coded. I recently found the settings that control the speed at which it extract and retract.

You can find everything in the HKFM module. This is the module that controls the tailgate and spoiler. You're looking for these main sections.

3100 ASP_CODIERDATEN_1 and 3110 ASP_CODIERDATEN_2

Anything called ASP has to do with the active spoiler.

Inside 3100 there is parameter called V_ASP_OUT and V_ASP_IN. They out has a value of 6E which converts to a decimal of 110 km/h or 68.35 mph. The IN is set at 46(hex) which converts to a decimal of 70 km/h or 43.49.

I believe modifying these codes will change the speeds at which the spoiler operates. So if you want it to come up at 55mph you first need to convert that to km/h approx 88. Then we need to convert that to hex which would be 58.

I haven't had a chance to test this yet, I'll try it sometime this week and get back to this thread. Let me know if anyone else gets a chance at trying this. Make sure to backup your ncd files before you change these values.

There is another value that might have to be changed as well. Check out INV_V_ASP_OUT. It contains two values and when you subtract them and convert you get the 110 km/h number. Here is the description on the value.

Inverted coding parameters in km / h , at which exit the spoiler.

Instruction manual BMW 320D GT M Sport

Hi everybody,

This Friday I will pick up my new car ( 320D GT M Sport).
I live in France but I am not French, I am Dutch.
I have tried to look for the instruction manual but cannot find it.
Can anybody help me with this.
English or Dutch will be just fine.
Thanks

An easy fix would be to just disconnect the plugs to the motors that extend and retract the spoiler. Not sure if you would get an error message, but it does not hurt to try if you are unable to code this feature.

There is an app now if you have an iphone where you can download your instruction manual: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/bmw-...714042570?mt=8

either use your cars VIN number or use google to find one, that is what I did as my car will only be delivered in August so I could already have a look

The instruction manual is on the iDrive system and you will also have language options within the iDrive, so I would guess you could set language to English and then use the electronic version of the manual, which also has a nice search feature.
