Good. Huge improvement!
On both 320d and 328i I tested, the new generation RFT's are quieter and more comfortable than the previous generation on my E90. So yes - good. Like them. I couldn't be certain, but I think the 320d was on Bridgestones. The 328i was on Continental's, but that's probably because it came from Portugal. Just reading Clarkson's blog on tyres, it makes me wonder if we will see our tyres wearing out faster. I'll be interested to see where the wear is though as the old gen RFT's run heavily on the sidewall. Quote:

Sounds like the theme is that people find them quieter and more comfortable and love them not realizing that they are awful for performance. Does that sum it up fairly?

I have Perelli P7's and they are good. These are the summer tires since I have a Sportline. They are so much better than run flats used to be. Really not an issue anymore.

The performance isn't awful. It's good....but not great. And that has much more to do with the low rolling resistance part than the run flat part.

Did you try the car at all with the stock springs and non-RFT tires and can you provide some feedback on how it felt vs stock? Last edited by RASHID007; 05-23-2012 at 11:43 PM.. |

I had GoodYear 18'', (almost) first pothole made a huge bubble on a front tyre and a small one on rear.
Replaced with Pirelli, much much better, quieter and feels softer. |

I made the same mods as J Tiberius and 99% agree with his assessment. I started with springs, but the bigger upgrade is the tires. Easily the best mod and first mod to do.

My experience on the 20" Pirelli P Zero RFT on the 335i is that they have quite a lot of understeering.
But so far no noise or other complain. Anyway I'll probably go for non RFT on the next tire change. Tires are like shoes, it also depends what conditions you use them most often. For Texas with mostly dry condition, you'll find many good choices. But as soon as handling in wet road condition becomes important, only a few will be left to choose from. Continetal Sport Contact 5P or Dunlop Sport Maxx is my choice. |

I had the Conti SSR 5 and i wasn't impressed...anytime i took a ramp at a somewhat decent speed, they would howl which sounded like they were losing grip and understeering. Anyway, I replaced them with non-RFT's and boosted the front from 225 to 245 width to combat some of the understeer. Still breaking in the tires, so haven't had much chance to test them at the limit.
